The hotel

Cape Town has plenty to offer when it comes to sightseeing, and The Commodore is perfectly placed for you to enjoy the V&A waterfront, Table Mountain, and Robben Island with ease. Upgrade to an Executive room to make the most of the views from your balcony on the top floor, or even to a King Suite if you want the extra space for your stay. The nautical theme runs throughout the hotel, from your room right through to the bar and restaurant, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and local wines. As you’re in the heart of the harbour, you don’t have to go far to find more restaurants and bars either, where you can while away sunny evenings in the oldest working harbour in South Africa.

The hotel was recommended to us by a travel agent for its proximity to the waterfront and access proved relatively easy. Our rooms overlooked the harbour on the 6th floor and had a small balcony. It would have been nice to have had chairs on the balcony but I presume that any high wind might have proved this dangerous. Read less

The Commodore Hotel provided a good centralized place to stay in Cape Town -- close to the V&A Wharf amenities, easy access to Uber transportation, and a comfortable place to stay. The WIFI was horrible (a speed-test indicated that we weren't even getting a full Mbps in our upload nor download speeds. The restaurant food was good and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Hats off to the bartenders in the lounge for accepting a challenge to create a local Amarullo "sundowner" drink for my party -- they were fabulous! We stayed several days before a cruise out of Cape Town and additional days after the cruise before flying home. The hotel served our purposes very well. Read less

Great location and views, lovely staff. The waterfront area bustles with activity, you can eat somewhere different every night and not be disappointed and this is a great base.

The Commodore Hotel is in the perfect location to visit The Waterfront. The staff were really friendly and helpful and made our stay very special. Our room was light and airy and catered to our needs. We will stay again.

Great location, has everything you need. Efficient staff. Gym could do with having antibacterial wipes available to wipe down equipment after use.
