I never had to wait for a table - Excellent food. Choice of made-to-order breakfasts or extensive buffet. For dinner, I recommend the butternut squash soup and the side salad. Good selection of wines (of course) - Stunning grounds - Free-roaming tortoises - Walking distance to Kirstenbosch and a few restaurants - With the exception of the air from the vent, my room was quiet - Soft mattress, plush comforters, comfortable pillows - Rowhlin, the concierge, was helpful - Charlotte Rhys bath products (my hair looked great) - Garden views + lots of natural light - Hot showers, precise temperature control, water, slippers, bath robes, safe, etc. - Efficient laundry service - Strong WiFi - Pleasant common areas for relaxing or working What could be improved: - The windows could be slip open, so you can't enjoy fresh air at night, and you have to remember to shut them when leaving your room Read less

Room 128 Complaining here - pointing out anything that is wrong - is pointless. They do not care. They will not respond. Weird management set-up. Faulty air conditioning in room - switches itself on randomly at strange times. We did mention this to housekeeping but it was never fixed in our 5 night stay. Woken on Sunday morning 7.25am by 8 loud bangs next door room 126. Investigated - door open and 2 cleaners in making a lot of noise. At 7.25am! I asked them to please reduce the noise but was told there was no banging and noise must be coming from the ‘other room’! Really? They carried on making noise and talking loudly. The room itself is poorly finished and furnished. Much use of laminate covered chipboard sideboard, bedside cabinets and wardrobes. Feels cheap. Nothing Not one cupboard or drawer closes properly. Peeling drawer front in bathroom. Needs replaced. In the shower there are open holes drilled in shower tiles where there was an old fixture at one time. Not what you expect in a 4 star hotel. Squint toilet flush in bathroom Toilet roll holder in strange place - one day they forgot to add toilet rolls. Our bathroom mirror was dirty - cleaners cleaned room - bathroom mirror still dirty. Loose handle on bedside cabinet (side nearest window). Staff - staff tend to walk right at you and will not make way. Lack of spatial awareness. Guests are just an inconvenience slowing their day. Not all staff like this. No training Chaotic breakfast service - very hit and miss. Hard to get a coffee. The bed duvet was very heavy for summertime. The fridge did not work - was not cold. Concierge had no decent knowledge of the local area. Tried to direct us to a gem sales store for a free Africa pendant. Anita at pool area was a rare shining star. On checking out we pointed out that our expectations were not met. They just said sorry and had no interest at all in hearing what the issues were or addressing them. No leaders present. A very strange way to run a hotel. Look elsewhere. Read less

Looking shabby. Very unattentive staff on Patio and the food was simply average and priced for overseas guests stuck without choice. Management seen but ineffective. Its sad because the place brings the view. There just seems to be a lack of attention to detail- and with all of Cape Town to choose from I am not rushing back.

I had a very disappointing meal (twice now) at the Garden Lounge restaurant recently. Highly priced, small quantity meal and mediocre quality. It is a pity as the setting and grounds are lovely. I won't be returning for a meal again unfortunately.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Vineyard. The grounds and backdrop of Table Mountain were second to none. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help. Food was incredible and our apartment was spotless and modern. We loved hunting for the tortoises in the garden every day - such a unique feature. It was also perfectly placed to head into the centre of Cape Town but also further out down the peninsula. It was nice to be on a quiet street in a lovely leafy suburb. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Read less
