The Protea is my go-to hotel whenever I have a layover at JNB. Rooms are decorated in a cool airport theme with cozy beds, blackout curtains, and minimalist modern shower and bathroom areas. The shuttle is super reliable (airport pickups at the top of each hour and at :30), the restaurant offers a variety of food options, and the recently renovated bar area is a nice place to relax. Staff are top notch and always friendly. This is my 5th stay, and I’ll definitely return again!

We stopped over one night at this hotel in our way to Nelspruit (kruger park).The room is a bit small and strange,the shower is barely next to the bed, with an aviation themed decoration. Just ok for one night.The breakfast buffet is very good as well the restaurant for diner.Their free airport shuttle is convenient and reliable.

Restaurant for dinner was good and convenient, reasonable menu and price. Service was great.
Early morning check out was quick and super friendly shuttle driver had us back at the airport for our early morning flight.
