It is amazing how everything runs like a super well-oiled machine. The dynamics of running an establishment handled with such excellence that at every visit there are tourists enjoying and speaking boastfully from all corners of the world

We visited the lodge with our family ( a total of 9 people, ranging from 8 yrs old to 70 yrs old). We stayed in the lodge (2 adults and 2 kids) and half the family stayed in one of the self-catering accommodations. We chose the half-board option, which included breakfast and dinner as well as 1 game drive per day. There was a good variety of food at each meal and catered for meat eaters and vegetarians. The kids loved all the options for dessert. For lunches we ordered at the pool bar a few times. The service was slow but the options were good for a poolside lunch. We did 2 evening game drives and 1 morning one (you can choose what time you want to do). The drivers were very knowledgeable and we were able to see some amazing wildlife. It was the first game drive experience for our kids and they were amazed. The kids loved the playground. There was a trampoline and beach volleyball court along with the usual playground equipment. We also had the kids attend the kids club one day and they had a lot of fun there too. Overall, it was an excellent experience and would recommend for families. Read less

Our stay at the Lodge was very nice and relaxing. It is a very big business and it is very well run. You get chalets, the two sections of the hotel which I estimated to have between 80 to 90 rooms and then the Villas. It seems that some people own and live in some of the chalets because there are signs saying "Private, no access", I am not sure if the Villas are privately owned. Our chalet looked new or at least recently renovated. It was very clean, beautiful and well-furnished including the kitchen. There were two bedrooms and each had separate two-in-one doors that opened to the outside. The GM (George) said at the welcome and introduction (coffee and tea invitation), the thatched roofs keep the chalets cool in the summer but there are no air conditioning units but each room and the kitchen and TV lounge have ceiling fans which I quite appreciated. The gym does have an air conditioner though. There was also a patio with a table and six chairs. On the patio they provide a small weber kettle braai and a 4-burner gas braai with a 9kg LPG bottle. They say no wood is to be used and I think that is probably because of the thatched roofs (Safety considerations). And there are lightening arresters at pre-determined locations around the property. As per my videos and photos taken, there are quite a number animals on the resort and we were told that they have the "big-5" too. They have 5 or 6 trucks equipped for game drives in the morning and evening. When I went to the gym at 5am one morning I saw that they were full. They said I think it costs R600 or R700 for the game drive. However, I didn't think it was necessary to go on a game drive, partly because my wife and her niece from Cape Town (She came to visit us in December 2024 in Kempton Park, Gauteng) said they were afraid of the animals. I would have gone BUT did not feel like going alone. At the back of the chalets, there is an electric fence that is about 12 to 15 meters from the chalets and on the other side of the fence we saw waterbucks, warthogs, lots of springbucks, rhinos and elephants. I also saw squirrels running around there. One evening when I went for a walk, one of the staff members asked me if I wanted to go for a bush braai. Unfortunately we did not about this and we probably would have considered going for a bush braai. Oh yes, I also noticed that there were a number of overseas tourists there, German and Polish tourists. They were in a group that checked out on Thursday morning, their Read less

Excellent location to in hail fresh air from the mountains and see animals next to your cabin. Beautiful way to bond with nature in the mornings and to meditate while looking at the river when the sun rise with your cup of coffee. A definite come back.
