We stayed here with six people and we had a great time in and around the lodge. I do recognise some of the earlier comments that the rooms (at least in ‘the heights’ are a bit outdated, but it did not bother us. Bathroom is small, but rooms were clean and well equipped. Point for improvement: there should be a possibility to switch off the light above the front door as it too bright during the night. Restaurant next to the lobby serves a nice variety of food, including vegetarian option, but service is slow. They forgot to bring the fries and when we asked they pretended it was an additional order. Food is coming in waves and not all at the same time. It was very quiet, so not sure why it took so long to get drinks/food. Italian restaurant downstairs and breakfast: same issue. One dish was incomplete compared to the menu. Slow serving and not everything was served at the same time, which is not what you expect in this lodge and given the prices. Read less

It is a retreat for us, while feeling like a home away from home. We are very familiar with the property and experience, however this last stay went well above expectations. The degree of personal attention and customer care was exceptional. There are so many kind, warm, caring and attentive staff at the JPL lodge (Karla, Shiva, Brendan, Corey, Paddy to name a few), who made our stay very special. The property is stunning. The setting in Jasper is perfect, on the lake, near the Athabasca, and a short distance to town. The amenities on the property are excellent, with so much to do and enjoy right outside your room. We have stayed in a variety of different room, with a wide selection of options. Our favourites are the rooms on the lake or the more remote parts of the property, where the natural beautiful and quiet are at its best. Many of the rooms are newly renovated, and they are doing a great job with renovations so that this historic property has modern luxury/comfort. We will be back soon! Read less

The staff at JPL were all wonderful. Shout out to Joshua at the front desk :-) We loved petting Kala the hotel dog. Our room was spotless and staff were very attentive texting to ask if we need anything. The hotel had wine, treats, and a beautiful painting, along with towel art and rose petals on the bed when we arrived. The lodge is beautiful and we loved the crackling fireplaces and live music during dinner and in the lounge. We had the perfect getaway and are so glad we treated ourselves to a stay at JPL. I had such high expectations of this lodge but unfortunately it was fairly disappointing, which was mainly due to the fact that the value for money ratio is just not right here, which causes a little irritation right from the start. The pool is lovely and the surroundings are of course stunning. Also great that we could use complimentary ice skates to skate on the lake! But when it comes to the rooms, this lodge seriously disappoints for the prices they charge. Our room was on the lodge's grounds in a cabin kind of little building. It felt just more like an upgraded motel room, than a room we paid 400 CAD for. When I pay that kind of money (in low season even, I can't imagine what they charge in summer) I expect more than this. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was upgraded and nice, but the room did just not justify its price. I have stayed in far more luxuruous rooms for less money. I was also kind of annoyed by the fact that we apparently could not sit in the main lodge in the lobby area without ordering expensive drinks. We just wanted to sit on a couch there for 20 minutes before heading out, and a waitress immediately approached us with glasses of water asking what we wanted to drink. When we told her we just wanted to sit she went away. But came back 15 minutes later "Still no drinks?" in a slightly irritated way. In hindsight we had rather stayed in our hotel in Jasper town, which was much better value for money. The stay in the Jasper Park Lodge was to treat ourselves but it did not meet up to what you would expect for room prices like this. Read less

I was travelling solo but stayed at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge for 2nts as part of a tour group. My transfers to this property were already organised but I believe there is a shuttle from/to town. You need to check though as I'm not sure if it operates in Winter. Check in staff and concierge were very welcoming. I have a slight mobility issue and was given a room in the Lodge rather than a cabin, which was really helpful so that I didn't have to walk too far for amenities. The property is sprawling over hundreds of acres and having individual log cabins is very unique however, my room in the Lodge was wonderfully comfortable, huge bathroom and shower and a picture perfect view from my window. I dined at both restaurants, the Great Hall served really nice, casual/pub type food, Orso Trattoria (downstairs) for something a little bit more 'fancy'. Really happy with both service and food quality. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served at both restaurants and both offer outdoor dining (did not try this option as it was a snowing!). The main Lodge was beautifully decorated for Christmas with a huge Christmas tree and a home made gingerbread house (made with real gingerbread) as entry into the Emerald lounge. The Emerald Lounge is a large bar area serving bar snacks with various seating options with couches, chairs and coffee tables and stools up at the bar. Really nice casual atmosphere, great place to meet with fellow travellers. Both the bar and Great Hall shared a back to back open fireplace and there was some live entertainment in the evening. This resort has a spa and heated outdoor pool (tempting, but no), gym & fitness centre. I believe there were various shops downstairs but I did not visit. Free Wifi. Noticed numerous meeting rooms. The hotel also supplied skates for those daring to skate on the nearby frozen lake! A pretty special place overall, especially in Winter. Really enjoyed my stay. Read less
