The hotel

A local landmark with a legendary story, Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth was the setting for John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s famous bed-in for peace in 1969 – and is where Lennon wrote and recorded Give Peace a Chance. Today, it’s still inspiring guests, thanks to a huge revamp in 2017 that’s transformed social spaces like the wellness centre and sleek indoor pool, and its dining venues, including the elegant Rosélys restaurant, sophisticated Nacarat cocktail bar, and cool contemporary coffee hangout, Kréma. And it’s kept its progressive and creative edge at its urban market, Artisans, where local purveyors and gourmet geniuses share their culinary creations.

To be fair, I have reviewed this hotel before. It is famous, well located, and luxurious. But this time it was different...because the staff are currently locked out by management. So, no food services, the pool is closed, two of the four doors are closed, there is no room service, no room cleaning. To be clear, I have no views regarding unions, strikes or employee demands. But....the hotel was so peaceful, such a quiet stay, amazing sleep !! The few staff I met were so helpful, so wanting to make everything good. I dont need daily room cleaning, I missed room service.....but I still had a great stay. Read less

A really great stay at the Queen Elizabeth. With amazing access to the arena and city hotspots, this hotel provided us with the perfect landing spot for the weekend stay. Well maintained rooms with a great view of the lively streets made this a really nice stay. Customer service at the hotel was top notch, with fantastic food and drink on-site . … Read more

I received an email before our stay advising that I was upgraded to the Gold Lounge and for me to check in on the 21st floor. I received an email before our stay advising that I was upgraded to the Gold Lounge and for me to check in on the 21st floor. I did that but when I arrived to the 21st floor I was made to feel like garbage by the guy working the desk. He told me and my colleague that we do not belong there and that we need to check in downstairs. We explained and showed him our emails and he agreed to check us in but he explained we are NOT allowed in gold lounge. We tried to escalate the issue but it seemed that no one in the hotel was willing to help. We spoke with the manager and he tried to get us to pay for an upgraded room as he stated that the email for the upgrade was sent to us by accident and that we were not supposed to be upgraded. The staff at the hotel were extremely rude and made us feel like scum. My colleague and I travel for work regularly and we always stay at fairmont hotels but I don’t think we will ever stay at the Montreal fairmont again due to the poor service and rude staff. I have never felt so degraded in my life. Read less

We had a lovely stay with no issues. No signs of a strike (10/18/24) so recent reviews need not scare you off. Views are great staff is helpful. Especially the girl at the pool. She was accommodating for me and my daughter, I tried to thank her but couldn’t find her to see her name tag to shout out on here. Amenities are fine, decor is fine, and… Read more

She was accommodating for me and my daughter, I tried to thank her but couldn’t find her to see her name tag to shout out on here. Amenities are fine, decor is fine, and room was adequate (small, but that’s common in bigger cities). Only minus a star for no benefits at all booking through Amex fine hotels. Huge difference than the Fairmont chateau Frontenac I’m staying in now that gave room upgrade, hotel credit, and late checkout. Even detailed the benefits to us in a letter. This was also probably effected from the recent strike. But that’s a large portion of where/why I book my hotels. The beds were not the comfiest would be the only complaint but that’s hit or miss at hotels as well. Would recommend staying here as the tiled indoor pool is gorgeous and the location is unbeatable if traveling with luggage with via rail to other parts of Canada. Will repeat when taking more trains from Montréal. Read less

We checked in the second October 2024. The strike was still on. The room was very nice, but when after a long day of traveling, the hotel restaurants were closed! Across the bridge in the terminal we were able to find a pizza restaurant and got a bite. I returned to room and drank some alcohol from the room refrigerator. No problem, except when received the bill! Come on, $25.00 + for 2 oz of booze. Give me a break! At least, there should have been a discounted room price and a definite lowering of room booze.
