Like others, we had read a few negative reviews about this resort prior to our trip on 10th December ‘24 for 11 nights and I had contemplated changing our holiday. I’m pleased to say we didn’t and we had a wonderful time. There were always beach towels, rarely a queue for drinks and the staff were exceptional! A folder with all useful information in the room would be beneficial upon arrival. Some handy tips:- The wonderful coffee shop opens at 06:30 for self serve coffee however, made coffees and pastries start at 7am (opening time states 06:30). So don’t arrive at 6:30 for your caramel latte. Wait until 7. Even if advertised, sailing lessons and snorkelling only go ahead on green flag days. A yellow flag at the bottom of the stairs on Lovers Beach means they’re not on. Towel stations are everywhere, beaches and by all pools (not just by the main pool as stated on the resort map). Water stations likewise so there is no need for new water bottles placed in the room daily as previous guests have mentioned. That’s not eco friendly and recycling is difficult on the island. I was extremely happy with the housekeeping every other day, thank you ladies and gents, you did a wonderful job. The timetable of activities is hit and miss. A few times we left the beach for a timed activity by the main pool only to be told it wasn’t on or they had done that three hours previously. I’m wondering why you would advertise hour by hour activities and then not honour it? Maybe something to consider in the future. If you want a lovely beach walk a few minutes out of the resort to the right to Long Bay Beach, The Verandah has two bays with Pelicans diving for food daily at Lovers Beach. A wonderful sight to behold. I believe the nightly entertainment may fall short if you want variety and an interactive experience. I’d like to say that we encountered many pleasant staff members, including the fantastically hard working lady on the omelette station (who does the best poached eggs). You are simply wonderful. André, you are an absolute credit to this resort. Thank you for your amazing cocktails. As are you Ashanti and Gail. I always travel to different destinations as it’s a wide world out there for us to see, however if someone asked if I fancied a week away at The Verandah for a rest I would say yes without hesitation. Perhaps we timed it well between the two major holidays in the States. Regardless we loved it, thank you so much. Read less

We went in early December and the tree frog were in full season with loud mating call starting at dusk and running all night. The gym is modestly equipped for an advanced lifter. Easy walk to Devils bridge. We walked there a few times since it really not an option for long walks on the beach. Read less

I've just returned from the trip of a lifetime to Antigua, where the Verandah resort exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we arrived, we were treated to exceptional service, private beaches, and crystal-clear pools. The staff's genuine warmth and kindness, led by the visionary general manager Marina, made our stay truly unforgettable. Our room was a spacious, complete with a spacious balcony with ocean views. We loved playing miniature golf, shuffle board and ping pong! The water sports were great! Went double kayaking, and Young took the 4 of us hobie catting which was so exciting!! The food was very good, and I love they had namebrand liquor, including Grey Goose vodka at two bars. We had the thrill of exploring the island's natural wonders, including an unforgettable stingray encounter and a visit to the tortoise sanctuary. A private island tour of the country was a fantastic way to experience the local culture. I was struck by the island's infectious warmth and hospitality, which made us feel welcome and safe throughout our stay. I am already planning my return to Antigua. Read less

Wow! we had the most wonderful holiday, the hotel is so beautiful there are palm trees everywhere. All of the staff we met were friendly and happy , the food in all of the restaurants was tasty and hot with a great choice. The staff at the main bar were always happy and chatty , especially Kertie, Leon and Andre and they made the evenings fun. There was evening entertainment every night from a DJ to a live band. If you fancied a late night drink the Wavy Cricket bar was always a good choice. My only negative are the beaches , they do look so pretty and we enjoyed the watersports on offer, however the sea was quite murky and at Lovers beach it felt like mud or seaweed under your feet when you walked out which was a shame as we love swimming in the sea normally. We did go to the sister hotel Pineapple Beach Club for the day and the sea and beach were lovely but we were glad we had booked The Verandah for all the other facilities. The resort was spotless and we enjoyed our time at the pools. Our room was really spacious and kept clean with water replenished daily and the towels were always available too. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. Read less
