Lovely hotel, beautiful environment, lots of greenery. The beach is amazing and the water is crystal clear but a little rough (not recommended for kids). I believe that all the rooms have a great view as it seems all of them are facing the beach. Room was spacious, so was the patio. Kitchen in the room was a bit old, but well equipped. The food at Calabash Beach Bistro was always delicious and most of the staff were very friendly (Tremaine with his big smile, Lisbeth always in a good mood),we tried Deia once, it was also lovely, but the music was a bit too noisy so we could not hear each other. Great job from the watersport team as well (just sometimes they run out of towels and we had to wait). Overall a great stay, would love to come back. Read less

A wonderful nine night stay at the Bougainvillea. Never having been to Barbados previously, we were recommended this hotel which met our preferred criteria of not being too large, of providing breakfast on the premises (and the option of other meals when required), of being close to the beach while still providing access to tourist attractions. We were pleased to have found this hotel: it was on the South coast (perhaps more authentic than the more upmarket West coast, which of course may suit others), and was within reasonable distance from both St Lawrence Gap and Oistins for Friday Fish Fry (both are walkable in about 30 minutes). Sun loungers were plentiful, with choices both around the pool and on the beach, with towels readily available. The pool is relatively shallow, and while the beach is very nice, the sea can be rough at times, therefore sometimes limiting swimming opportunities. This will be fine for many, as it was for us, but worth mentioning in case important for others. We could not fault the friendliness and attitude of all the staff, from Reception to Restaurant, and from Cleaning to Security. Yes, things may be a little slower when compared with what we might expect when we are at home, but we were prepared for this as we also wanted to experience a bit of ‘Caribbean Time’. Read less

The hotel has far exceeded our expectations, the room, the staff and the food… Calabash has been a highlight, having eaten at many of the local restaurants, I can honestly say that the food is up there with the best of them. Every time we dined we had a massive welcome from the staff who looked after us very well. The beach is the best in the area.. clean, unlittered and beautiful. We particularly liked that you can place your lounger anywhere and the wonderful water sports guys will put up your shade for you. No squashed up stack em and rack em here!! We will be one of the 40% returners for sure…. Best holiday we have had for a long time! Oh and thank you Bouganvillea for the balloons and fizz placed in our stunning room on arrival …. Very kind 😊 Read less

The entrance and reception area to this lovely hotel is fabulous, the location and beach are amazing and the staff are all fabulous. We are repeat clients and we love staying here. However, although we love the Bajan charm of the hotel, it really does need a good lick of paint in the hallways and stairs where the rooms are located. I have read some of the other reviews and actually I found the sunbeds to be very comfortable on the beach. I also agree with the comments about the beach bar, there is only ever one guy on and we had to wait a long time for our drinks, so perhaps this could be something the management can work on, maybe have some extra help, especially during 'Happy hour' which is crazy busy! We ate a lot at he onsite restaurant and always had excellent food, although the service could sometimes be a little slow but then this is Barbados and we're on holiday. The room was always clean and i loved the big gym and the shower facilities when you have a late flight are very welcome. We've booked to go back as we love it so much. Read less
