Staff was excellent, Lesley Ann was an excellent server and I enjoyed our conversations. The hotel is an older crowd 60+ so you really have to hunt down the younger fun people but regardless of age most guests were very friendly. Food was mostly decent, preferred sunset over the other restaurant but nice to have the option. A little far from the airport, depending on traffic so if that’s important to you it’s something to note. Overall would return. Read less

The hotel is in a lovely spot on the west coast with nice calm seas. We stayed in a beachfront one bedroom suite. And the only complaint I had about this was that the mattress was very hard. However this is a personal preference, some people like a hard mattress, but it gave me a bad back each morning. Other than that the room was lovely and clean with good AC and a nice sized bath. The food at the hotel was good, we heard some people saying it was a bit samey each evening but we found the quality of the food and the standards of service in the restaurant more then adequate. Some nights are buffet and some are A la`carte. And room service is available for a tray charge, but there were no menus in the rooms otherwise we would have used this facility. The bars were slightly hit and miss to be totally honest. The service was mostly friendly but not always. It seemed that the younger workers begrudged working and on many occasions we counted 6-7 people behind the bar chatting to themselves whilst a queue of 5 people were waiting to be served and only one person was serving drinks. In my opinion the hotel NEEDS a bar manager or supervisor. The hotels general manager was a lovely lady called Caroline. And I am not sure how she did it, but she literally spoke to every guest! She was amazing and the service standards at the bar jumped up a notch when Caroline was visible. I did mention to her that the hotel needed a bar supervisor and she said that she had offer this to a few of the staff but nobody wanted it because it was a lot of office work. I think the hotel would benefit from a change to their proposed duties and let a bar manager/ supervisor work as normal behind the bar so that they do not miss out on the tips. This way the service will greatly improve at the bars. I did hear and speak to lots of people whom all said the same, "The younger ones seemed a bit miserable and not friendly or willing to work" Which is a shame because they let the other wonderful staff down. In our honest opinion, the best person for the job would be Kareem. (apologies if the spelling is wrong) When Kareem was on the bar there were no queues and the bar was stocked and clean. She also made the younger guys pull their weight, she was a natural manager and an extremely important asset to the hotel, because everybody commented on her wonderful work. Kareem was the person that knew everybody's name and what they drank. She was incredible really. I do hope that the hotel managers can speak to the owners and leave her in her place behind the bar but put her in charge. It would save lots of moaning guests. Now! I sound like I am moaning (I am not) the hotel was lovely, clean and tidy with mostly great service and nice food. I just think it is important to tell the truth hoping that the hotel does learn from honest feedback and corrects these small but important issues to keep a good customer retention. We would certainly stay here again, we really enjoyed ourselves and met a lot of nice people. But we did hear lots of moaning about the bar service when Kareem was not on duty which was a shame. It is such a simple thing to correct to keep people coming back year after year. Dave & Jonny. Read less

The staff were welcoming and friendly, the rooms clean, tidy with comfy beds. The evening entertainment was good - we particularly enjoyed the steel pan and the mangers cocktail party with local bajan fish cakes being cooked by the sea! Drinks range was great including popular brands of spirits including in the all inclusive. We had no problem getting a sun bed by the sea or the pool each day and enjoyed days sat by both! The gym has a reasonably good range of equipment and it’s kept clean and tidy. We enjoyed the food in both restaurants especially the authentic Caribbean cuisine! The catch of the day and the Caribbean curry’s were particular favourites. the team made a real effort on our anniversary giving us a beautiful table by the sea for dinner and bringing out a suprise cake! Very thoughtful and made it really special. Thank you for an enjoyable stay, we look forward to seeing you again next year! Read less

Bed mattress ripped on corners. Towels were sometimes remembered or pinch yourself from trolly. Had to sweep room 3 times as was sandy. Not direct beach now but one to side of hotel. Sunbeds are really close together and hard to find if your not up early!!! Pools and area not kept clean. Some sunbeds v dirty. Staff a mostly wonderful few Rude ones! Food not hot. Very basic. A la cart it is not! Gym basic and old. Garden areas nice. This maybe 20yrs ago would of been wonderful but it's not now. Main toilets near restaurant and pools small and moldy. Not cleaned regularly through day. The people who own hotel need to maintain it better. I would sadly not recommend this hotel. Read less

This was our fourth trip to the Club Barbados. Our first visit brought with it the joy of discovery from the blue-stoned reception counter to the trifecta of pools and a lovely lazy ocean. Our second visit was a time to follow the Barbados Club beacon and discover that you can go home again — even when home is 3,000 miles from your front door. On our third trip, we left the bubble and opened the window that led to the interior of the island. We sipped on the Mount Gay tour and took the remarkable Island 4x4 Safari around the Island. Or fourth visit was different. I had injured my knee and was only able to stumble around via cane and brace from our room to the Sunset Restaurant to the nearest pool. On this trip I learned there was much more to the Club Barbados than great facilities, terrific food, and lovely people. The staff went far beyond being lovely, they were unfailingly kind. They opened doors for me, warned me about steps, saw to it — without my asking — that I always got the closest table to the buffet line. They even offered to carry my plate for me. Cheerfully and unassumingly they went above and beyond — again and again. This wasn’t the variety of kindness that’s “trained” into people. It was kindness that comes from the heart. We’ll be making our fifth trip to the Club Barbados next May. Art Edwards Read less
