Overall we had a good experience at Half Moon over the holidays. Here are a few notes. Highlights Room - we stayed at the Eclipse at a room on the ground floor. Incredibly spacious and updated, with the shower being a highlight with strong water pressure. Also was nice to have one complimentary mini bar usage (bottled water was very accessible during our entire stay also). Only feedback is that I’d suggest upgrading to nicer hair dryers, and not having as many pillows on all of the furniture. Grounds - a really beautiful setting with perfectly manicured grounds. It was a very short walk from eclipse to founders cove, no more than 10 minutes, but you could drive your own cart or take bikes there. The gym is massive with pretty decent equipment and it was fun to rent tennis rackets and balls for free to play. Areas for improvement Beach/Pool - the chairs had no padding on them, which surprised us and left them not really comfortable to stay on all day. The pool area was also completely shaded with the palm trees, along with limited seating (usually full by 10am, plenty of seating on the beach). The water on the beach had quite a bit of seaweed and was pretty small. You could dip your feet but no one was swimming. Cocktails - Overall the dining was ok, but a real bummer was that the cocktails we had were all bad. We tried at least 4 from different places before giving up, and the red wines were also bad. The pina colada was too liquid and the margarita was watery. At $18-22 each, this was a let down. We stuck to beer and hard seltzer from cans. Concierge - we tried to book a 2 day lesson in golf but the concierge could never confirm despite us following up. Finally- we had to leave early due to an unforeseen circumstance and we were sad to have to leave. We booked through AMEX FHR for the extra perks that booking direct did not offer. We called Amex to see if anything could be done, such as a partial refund for the 1-2/5 nights we stayed. They said the hotel told them no, and when we spoke directly to the hotel, they were quite short/rude with us saying that we shouldn’t have booked through a third party. They said if we had booked direct, they could have given us credits. Just felt a little bit sour - it’s not like we were staying at a competing property or paying a dirt cheap rate, we were still hotel guests. Read less

Overall experience was great! Very pleased with our visit. Food was some of the best I've had, though very pricey. Very peaceful and calm. The landscape team (Delroy) cut fresh coconuts for us daily. The concierge team (Fitzgerald) were always ready to help!

My family and I spent 4 nights at Half Moon. The resort is well maintained. The staff is friendly and the service is commendable. The food is good at all of the restaurants (6). We stayed at Founder’s Cove on the property. This is the original section of the resorts. The room was large, a lot of closet space, nice balcony overlooking the beach, updated bathroom. The food and drinks are pricey but good. I recommend getting drinks before or after dinner at Lester’s. As for restaurants, eat at Sugar Mill and Delmare onsite. These are 4-and-5 star restaurants. Dinner for four people with a bottle of wine will run around $400-$450. The beach is okay. There are prettier beaches in Negril and across the Caribbean. Half Moon has nice tennis complex, 18-hole golf course, modern gym, equestrian complex, and top notch spa. This is a good place for rest and relaxation. Read less
