The hotel

A contemporary hideaway, the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall occupies a prime location, nestled between Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain ridge and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. An adults-only retreat offering "Service from the Heart!", the atmosphere is gorgeously laid-back, ensuring plenty of rest and relaxation on the agenda. The private beach is nearly a mile long with swimmable coves to be alone in. All the usual sporting pastimes are on offer including beach volleyball, tennis, and basketball. When the day fades, there are restaurants and bars galore, not just those belonging to the Zilara but to the family friendly sister hotel, the Ziva, as well, offering 14 distinctly different restaurants to choose from. Feast on cuisines from all around the world, including French, Pan-Asian, Italian and Caribbean.

The King ocean view is very spacious. The beach is well kept and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The food is ok but you can tell they cater to “the masses” because there was a lack of flavor and spice. The drinks are good especially if you tip. There is a good variety of entertainment. Overall, I had a great time.

I paid $674 per night for an Ocean View Junior Suite King room and the room is very subpar. The mirrors are worn down and need replacement as well as the other fixtures. The hotel needs to invest in the appearance of the rooms especially for the price.

It is dirty, dangerous (our son fell in the shower it was slippery and our mother will not walk alone as it is raining and giant slippery water puddles everywhere. It is dirty, dangerous (our son fell in the shower it was slippery and our mother will not walk alone as it is raining and giant slippery water puddles everywhere. Dinner reservations are hard to come by. lots of day beds empty as they are over 200 dollars a day and it would be great to just be able to sit there in the rain. The rooms are old and dark. The hallways have stained carpet and smell. I can go on and on and on. The food is completely sub par, there is an extra charge for steak and lobster. it was never like this in past years. once again the staff is lovely but Hyatt should be putting money into this resort and a lot of it! Beautiful grounds, however there is room for improvement. When you attend an all inclusive you don't expect to be sold something every time you turn around. The swim up bar on the adult side was really nice. However, the pool was freezing cold and you feel like you're in a rat race for a chair at the pool. The beaches are beautiful but full of rocks and seaweed, which made it hard to enjoy. This hotel caters more to the family side, there is no nightlife. Don't be fooled by the attendants at the PLAYA desk in the entry of the hotel. We ended up in a 90 minute presentation about buying into Hyatt packages. All food isn't included, for surf and turf the hotel was charging $65. For room service it was a $10 service fee. We really enjoyed the room service along with the Jerk Hut and The Rootz restaurant. The hotel hosted international night, where there was a show and vendors which was pretty nice but was on the family side of the property. Which made it feel like we weren't at an adults hotel. The staff was pretty attentive and pleasant. Chef Vanessa, Bartender Kavion and Ms. Premium Shakira were really great. When checking out we had a problem with the PLAYA credit being applied to our room and Shanice and Danice were very helpful in helping us get the problem rectified. If your a family you will absolutely love this hotel, but couples and adults this is not the hotel for you. Read less
