We have never returned to the same resort twice except for Secrets Maroma that we visited for the 3rd time in January 2025. Overall, it is a wonderful resort. We agree with the 5 star TripAdvisor rating but we also consider restaurant quality, entertainment and the staff when evaluating a resort. The 2 main reasons we returned: staff and entertainment. We have gone to many resorts where there is no entertainment during the day or at night, It makes for a long holiday, not at Secrets Maroma, there is always a surprise waiting. There may be resorts with finer dining but none with the dining/entertainment combination. The staff is exceptional. We did not meet one staff member that we did not like or was not helpful. We do however have names worth mentioning. David - entertainment team Guillermo our concierge, always present and helpful. Mauricio and Gaspar by the pool. Adonay at the luncheon bar-b-que. Freddy and Roberto at the breakfast buffet, always made us feel so welcome and like family. Jaun at the Asian resto, Special mention: Senor Gallo. The downside: The food is good, not exceptional but it has improved since last year. You do not go to Mexico for the beef. You will be disappointed. Ribeye, steak taco. We also used to enjoy the bread and cheese at breakfast. The bread, before Covid was worthy of a French bakery. Today, other resorts also have a bread and a cheese selection that are not what we remember. Amazing vibe and wonderful staff. The food was also really good. The beach experience was unreal. Very close to the airport. Only 30 minutes away. I was worried about the bad reviews about food but it seems like things have changed and no longer relevant

Downright ruined the experience for me. Other than that crap first experience, everything else was great. The beach is one of the best I've been to - gorgeous soft, white sand. And the resort is great at addressing any seaweed/saragassum. Estephanie and Gabriella from the World Cafe, Estela by the pool, Hector from Portafino and Carlos and Guillermo from Himitsu all went out of their way to make our stay extra special and we are so grateful.
