My husband and I have been to Secrets Maroma twice - once in August and again in December (bldg 26). Both visits were five star. For our first stay in August we went with the Club Level plan; for the December stay, we did not. The Club Level is very nice and exclusive, but we wanted to compare the two options, and I can say we did not feel we missed out on anything - not because the Club Level isn't special (it is and we loved it), but because the entire resort is fabulous. Every single member of the staff went out of their way to be friendly, welcoming, and helpful - every single time! Roger, our concierge, made sure our every wish became a reality. He met us briefly (for about 20 seconds) when arrived, but knew us by sight and by name when we saw him out on the property as we were going to breakfast the next day. Let's talk about that breakfast. There are so many delicious options, including gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan - plus anything and everything else you could want. It wasn't a lot of food, it was a lot of delicious food. Berenice, who was cross-training at the front desk during our checkin was also working as hostess at breakfast and remembered us and called us by name. Lunch was typically poolside - either the huge and tasty hamburger or the special grilled options served on our second day. Next time, we'll try the pizza, which looked good, too. Poolside bar service was quick, friendly, and attentive. There's even someone who comes around and cleans your sunshades or glasses for you, and they offer a nice ice cold washcloth to freshen up with. Then there's dinner. Most nights we ate at the outdoor buffet so we could enjoy the entertainment. We were seated with two other couples who were delightful and we all compared notes about the fantastic service at the resort. We also dined at Bordeaux, the French restaurant, and were thrilled with the food, wine, and service. Pablo, our waiter, was awesome. He was witty, charming, and attentive. He said not to worry, he would take care of us, and he did - 100%. We had the escargot, surf & turf, and salmon - each prepared to perfection! In addition to our appetizer, a salad, and main course, we were treated to a cheese course and three deserts that we shared. During both stays, our room was kept spotless and we had an ample supply of towels, beverages, snacks, hangers, and toiletries. During our December stay, we took advantage of the turn-down service, which I never understood why that was a thing. Oh my gosh, I was so wrong. What a treat. Each time we have stayed at the resort, we vow to stay longer the next time. My husband, especially, can't wait to return. And as the title of this review says, I no longer have to convince my husband to take a vacation. He LOVES Secrets Maroma, and so do I. Read less

I can only concur with the majority of the reviews on here: Secrets Maroma is just absolutely superb. From the moment that we arrived, until the moment that we left, we felt fully taken care of and we had the best time here! Never having stayed at a hotel that was 100% all inclusive, we were completely amazed by the operation that they run here. It is absolutely insane, how well everything's organized!! People: The people working at Secrets Maroma are all incredibly professional. Of course, we clicked with some people more than we did with others, but overall everybody working at Secrets Maroma did an amazing job and took their job extremely seriously. From the housekeepers to our concierge (thank you, Herbierto!) and the entertainment staff to the waiters, everybody took such amazing care of us. At the pool, the waiter will ask you if you would like a drink every 5 - 10 minutes. The concierge takes care of all your needs. The staff at the restaurants work extremely fast and the housekeepers did an amazing job every time. I really cannot say anything bad about anybody that has helped us. I'm still amazed by the fact that they clean your glasses at the pool and they come by with fresh fruit too. It's insane. Entertainment: I don't often partake in the entertainment at hotels but here, it was hard not to. There were so many fun activities, so we ended up joining a painting class, as well as a dancing class and a "make your own facial" class. Everytime we joined the entertainment, we really had an amazing time. I highly recommend checking the activities ahead of time, so that you can plan which activities you may want to join, especially if you're only there for a week. We also had a great time with the coconut and margarita fests :). Food & drink: As I wrote above, until now, we had never experienced all inclusive like this. All inclusive (to us) usually meant buffet and certain types of drinks but our experience so far was that dinners at restaurants, room service and certain types of cocktails, were not included. Here EVERYTHING was included. I still cannot get over that. The only exception was certain types of wine but we hardy drank any wine at all and the house wines were amazing. I LOVED that room service was included, it felt super luxurious to us. The quality and quantity of the food and drinks were also really, really good. They are definitely not stingy with the food and drinks and the breakfast buffet, for instance, is easily one of the best ones I've ever seen in my life. We very much enjoyed the restaurants too, with the Italian one being my personal favorite. Also, I was obsessed with Coco Café. I still can't believe all the drinks and snacks there were also all inclusive. Amazing. One downside about the food and drink was, however, that it was not usually possible to get a table at the restaurant of our choice, in the evening. I'd read online that you can make a reservation but we were told (by the restaurant and reception) that that was not the case. This resulted in having to wait for at least half an hour several times, before we could eat. That was really my main "con" of this hotel. When I get hungry, I like to eat as soon as I can and the fact is that, if you intend to have dinner after 18:30, you will most likely have to wait for a while before they can seat you. I hope they will (re)consider working with reservations n the future. Rooms: We had the swim up studio and we LOVED it. I'd never had a swim up pool near my room and it was honestly the best thing ever. If you have the money, I'd highly recommend booking that room because it gives you a lot of flexibility and it feels super fancy (at least to me) to be able to walk straight into the pool, from the room. I thought the quality of the room was also really good. I loved the bathrooms, so gorgeous and the bath was amazing. The bed was super comfy and overall, I really had a great time. I'm sure some of the stuff was outdated but nothing bothered me and everything worked the way it should. The only downside about the room is that, at least in our room, the fire alarm was right above the bed and it had a blinking light. This got a bit annoying during the night, but we never mentioned it to the concierge so maybe if we had, they could have fixed it. Amenities: The hotel has great facilities. Someone below wrote that the gym equipment is a bit outdated and while I agree with that, all the equipment worked as it should and I really think it was a good gym. The pools were amazing and I really had a great time. I did not try the spa too. There are also several stores (amongst which pharmacy) which is great. One downside is that I, personally, found everything that you did have to pay for extremely expensive. Spa treatments were generally 200 - 300 USD for a massage (which is 3/4 times more expensive than what I'm used to and I live in an expensive country) and the pharmacy items were also way too expensive. We'd forgotten quite a few items like nail scissors, razors and after sun. The issue is that the hotel is very secluded so you can't easily go out and buy items yourselves, which resulted in us spending a lot of money at the pharmacy. After sun was 25 USD, razors 10 or 15 USD and the nail scissors were also around 10 - 15 USD. I don't mind a little mark up but this felt like it was really too expensive to me. Pads/tampons were, for instance, also 10 USD and I feel like that was taking advantage of the guests a little bit. Maybe these are normal prices for Mexican resorts but next time I return, I will definitely double check all my toiletries because we ended up spending way too much money at the pharmacy. Also, all the non-houe wines are extremely expensive too. I felt similarly about renting the special beach beds. I would have loved to do that but I felt 200 USD was just too much. Again, maybe these are normal prices for Mexico, but I thought that was all a bit much. Extra's We were on our honeymoon and we got the "Gift of Love" package. This included a banner, a bottle of sparkling wine, a breakfast in bed and a romantic turn down service. The turn down service was amazing. We came back to a heart made of rose petals and a drawn bath with a lot of foam. That was amazing. Also, we had some time to kill between our check-out time and the time of departure. Unfortunately, our room was booked so we could not opt for a late check-out, but the hotel let us use the "hospitality suite" for 30 minutes, to shower and get changed in. I still cannot believe they let us do that, because the room has to be cleaned after each use and it was a gorgeous room as well, and it was free of charge. We also asked for a lunch box on Thursday, which had to be delivered to our room at 04:30 AM. No problem, easily arranged. Also had some laundry done. We were told that would take 24 hours but we got our laundry back within 4 hours. Amazing. All and all I had the best time at Secrets Maroma and I even fear I've gotten a little bit spoiled with all the amazing service. I'll be honest: Secrets Maroma is a little out of our price range and we live quite far away, but I really do hope to return in the future (and hopefully for a bit longer then). From the bottom of my heart: thank you for all you did for us!! Read less
