The Soco House St Lucia

St Lucia, Caribbean

Virgin rating

The hotel

When you arrive at the front of the Soco House, you'll feel like you've been transported to South Beach, where vintage Art Deco architecture meets contemporary sophistication. The white and blue theme gives it a breezy, beach vibe and will have you chilling out on the sand in no time. Positioned in the island's leading tourist location, you've got shops, bars, restaurants and excursions right on the doorstep, but you'll have to drag yourself away from this stylish hotel first. The pool bar is the perfect place to chill with a cocktail, or indulge the senses at the spa with a massage - the choice is yours. The food is nothing short of exceptional, with an intimate vibe in the restaurant that is reflected all over the hotel - this really is the place to be seen this year!

Staff: Waiting staff were a delight. Supervisory staff in restaurant were rude and miserable. Rooms: Clean and large. No comfort provided in room via a chair or sofa. Plenty of room for additional seating but had to sit on bed when in room. Evidence of past flooding as furniture had water damage and needs replacing. Ground floor room 122, we had dozens of mosquitoes in room and on terrace throughout our stay. Spraying with insect spray constantly did not help due to large gap under doors. Could not sit on terrace due to mosquito problem. Cleaning staff were great. Pool bar: Staff friendly and efficient but bar lacked atmosphere. No lemons or limes to complement drinks were available for first half of our stay (yes, we were some of the guests who complained). All inclusive! There are an abundance of lemons and limes available in the local supermarkets, so we put this down to bad management. Found over use of ice made cocktails very watery. Seating at pool bar and roof top bar was so uncomfortable. Food: Ok, but only ok. Never hot. Long wait times. We had one lunch in 10 days as didn’t want to waste our holiday sitting in restaurant 3 times a day. We found 2 evening meals ‘nice’ in 10 days, rest were ok and poor. Breakfast was probably the best meal. Found if you went early it was quicker. Wine at dinner and in bar; 2 options of white wine, 1 was ok and the other was disgusting. The ok wine was not available for 4-5 days of our stay. !! Close to beach, which was great. Thank goodness for the cool boxes as we spent most of our holiday on the stunning beach. Loved St Lucia and Rodney Bay and will return, but not to Soco. Read less

Stayed at Soca House Rod ney Bay ,from 8 December to 18th -wedding party. The hotel was clean and white, however our room had damp on the ceiling from the rain. The tv took a while to set up which meant throughout the entire stay we could not watch local or BBC tv. We resorted to watching utube channels. The bathroom was clean however the towl rack broke. And could see it had been broken prior to our use and not screwed in well. The back of our front door also broke. And the patio door would not close securely due to swelling of the wood from the rain. Food was ok however always lukewarm, never hot ,which left a few of our guests with upset stomaches. It also took a long time to be served despite booking in advance. At times it appeared disorganised. With that said , the staff were very friendly and hard working but in my opinion did not appear happy. Something to do with staff morale maybe? Please note, this was my personal observation. A particular member of staff at the desk was very rude to a few of us when we asked for towels and coolers. I believe she was spoken too as she later became proffesional and polite. We would have thought for a party so big and whom the hotel knew were coming over a year ago , there would have been flexibility and more accommodating. There was no entertainment to suite all tastes. It appeared that the hotel was for guests that wanted peace and quiet. This is not a hotel I would recommend for a large group or for young people. In addition , the bar never notified us of last orders, it just closed. With the amount of young people working at the resort it might be a suggestion to have activities such as water aerobics, karaoke, and the like. Moreover if this is not the type of activities the hotel requires then it should be made clear before one books. There was not much tradition about this hotel and appeared to cater for a certain clientele ,down to the food which at times needed more seasoning. Again , as a suggestion, guests should be asked how they would like their food. I do want to say a huge thank you to LaToya ,Barry,Merlin, The boy with the black and gold puma trainers, Eloyese (she remembered all our names- nice touch) as well as the cleaners they are all doing a great job and I hope that all staff can receive a Christmas bonus. It was noted how hard everyone works. Read less

I spent ten days at soco house in St Lucia fo attend a wedding, the hotel in my opinion is a 3 star hotel, the bedroom was clean and nice with no chair in the room to sit on even though the website has a picture with a chair in the room, a bistro plastic chairs and table are on balcony is the only option to sit other than on the bed, their is a fridge in the room with nothing in it you have to ask for bottle water to put in fridge yourself. I have stay in other all inclusive hotels in the Caribbean and this is the first hotel I have stayed in that does not provide a restock fridge. The bed is nice comfort and get a good night sleep but does not have any pillows protectors just a pillow case or any mattress protectors on the bed. Food is available from 7:00am -10:00am breakfast, 12:00pm-2:00pm lunch, 6:30pm - 9:00pm dinner, with afternoon tea served by the inside bar at:3:30pm -4:30pm which is cakes and tuna sandwiches and had to ask for a vegetarian options which staff quickly accommodated, my only issue with the food overall is how long you have to wait for it to come to your table from when your order has been taken and when it does arrive it's lukewarm, doesn't matter if it breakfast, lunch or dinner it's lukewarm which is a shame as it's nice well prepared food. The hotel does not provide any food outside their listed hours which is a shame as if you want to eat something you have to walk for 10-15 minutes to Rodney Bay to local bars, soco does have a small shop that sells snacks. Their is no list of any entertainment one night had a piano player but the white grand piano clearly hadn"t been tuned, if soco house manager team have any budget or funds for entertainment they need to used it to entertain the guess with activities for an all inclusive hotels, The bar is suppose to close at 10:00pm for outside bar at pool and inside bar at 11:00pm but the staff start cleaning up at least 15-20minutes before closing time and can't get a drink and no drinks provided in rooms. The staff are pleasant, nice & helpful and rectify any issues within their gift to do so, this hotel is adult only with no children which is great, when you arrive it is white and classy, with a pool and roof top bar with amazing views, but if you are a lively couple or group this is not the hotel for you as nothing is going on once bars are close. We stayed at Soco House from December 8th to December 18th as part of a wedding celebration with a group of 31 people, a booking made last year. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in many ways, and the hotel was clearly unprepared to accommodate such a large group. While the rooms were clean, they lacked basic necessities that you’d expect even in a 3-star hotel, let alone a 4-star. There was no dustbin in the main room, insufficient lighting by the mirror, no shower door, and no shelf in the shower. These small but important details contributed to the feeling that this is not a 4-star establishment. The hotel also lacked facilities and entertainment. There was no daytime or evening entertainment—not even simple, low-cost activities like morning exercise, beach walks, or karaoke. The music was barely audible, creating no atmosphere at all. For an all-inclusive hotel, these shortcomings were disappointing. Additionally, the bar frequently closed early, often before the stated time, with no last call for drinks, even when we were sitting in plain view. This lack of effort to create a vibrant environment made the experience feel uninspired. Dining was another area where the hotel struggled. Despite being a large wedding party, we were not initially accommodated as a group for meals. It took a formal complaint before arrangements were made. The food itself was inconsistent, with dishes that should have been hot served lukewarm—a concerning issue that management needs to address. Afternoon tea also lacked vegetarian options, which was disappointing for those with dietary requirements. The lack of organisation came to a head when we tried to arrange coolers for a group beach outing. Shanai, the receptionist, had an off attitude, making us feel like we were bothering her by requesting the coolers. Despite being told in advance that we were heading to the beach, Shanai commented, “The coolers are for the beach,” when she saw a coach arrive to pick us up. This dismissive remark caused confusion and delayed our plans. The situation escalated to the manager, who reassured us the coolers would be provided. However, when we got to the bar, they claimed to be waiting for water, and in the end, we left without anything. This completely avoidable fiasco reflected poorly on the hotel’s communication and planning. After this incident, Shanai became noticeably more friendly, suggesting she had been spoken to. The staff experience was mixed. Some staff members were excellent and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Bar staff James, Ash, Chester, Barry, and Warner Donovan were friendly, professional, and made great drinks. Restaurant staff like Merline, Eloise, Daynah, and Latoyah were helpful and welcoming. Cleaners Shermain and Hannah did an outstanding job keeping our rooms tidy. However, one staff member was particularly unfriendly toward us, and overall, the staff’s personalities varied widely. Some were warm and engaging, while others lacked the energy to encourage guests to enjoy themselves. We were also made to feel that our group was “too loud” by other guests, which, while not the fault of the staff, added to the sense that this hotel was not ideal for a celebratory group like ours. Overall, Soco House is not a 4-star hotel. It lacks the facilities, service quality, and atmosphere to warrant this rating. With no entertainment, poor organisation, inconsistent food quality, and insufficient attention to detail, it left us feeling disappointed. While some staff members stood out for their excellent service, the overall experience was lackluster. We would not recommend this hotel for large groups, events, or those seeking an all-inclusive vacation. Read less

This was an redo of honeymoon to St.Lucia. What is now {closed} the Starfish and previously?? was not an option. The SoCo House absolutely blew us away. From check in to managers welcome party, bar staff, housekeeping, cleanliness, pool area, restaurant, location a 2 min. walk to an incredible beach [Reduit Bay] a 4th floor viewing deck of Rodney bay and Gros Islet. If you like to party, there are clubs nearby and on the beach and Fri. night street party. But if you are a foodie this IS the place!!! NO fast food, no pool snack bar. Just the best tropical drinks you dream up at the pool and lobby bars. You get the royal treatment in the restaurant, It is open but covered so you get the complete tropical experience. Every meal is ordered to your liking, lunch and dinner menu change every 2 days. How about eggs benedict [even smoked salmon[ for breakfast? Breakfast, Lunch and dinner choices are 5 star, The plating is sometimes too nice to eat, but worth every bite. It is made to order, not fast food, so enjoy a Merlot or Chardonnay or? and enjoy the ambience of St. Lucian life while you anticipate the most incredible meal you have ordered. How about a crab cake with aioli, then Shrimp pasta, then chocolate cheese cake for desert? Best fish Taco I've ever eaten. So many bests. There are so many choices, just incredible!!!! Your taste buds will do backflips!!! We also felt so relaxed and safe, even going for walks to, on beach, [very safe to swim] and to town. Great sleeps as the room is great and hotel quiet at night. Will definitely go back again. PS, do the catamaran tour to the Pitons, you just have to. Michael and Sherry Read less
