Our Grand Hyatt experience was spoilt by the weather - it rained for the full 10 days whilst we were there. December is not a good time to visit the resort. With the closure of the Garden Cafe due to renovations the dining experiences were severely limited - Wine prices at the resort were over top for less than satisfactory wines. Housekeeping and restaurant staff were fantastic but the same could not be said for front office staff. Overall our experience was satisfactory but the price you pay to stay at the resort is not valid for money Read less

Beautiful facility, with enough for the kids between 9 and 14 to do. Had the all inclusive food and beverage package which made it easy to enjoy the holiday without always checking your spend. Amazing staff thst were so friendly and helpful.

Despite the negative review of this grand old lady of Bali, we found this hotel is a pleasant one initially. The check in process was reasonably fast and the staff was very friendly. However the horror began on our first night at the hotel . In the morning we heard footstep ( assumingly belong to little kids) on the room directly above us at 6 o'clock in the morning . We then proceeded to have breakfast at the Watercourt Restaurant. The food was passable not great and not comparable with a 5 star hotel - cold rice congee and no spinach in the egg bennedict . But what we discovered next was horrified us - one of my sons found a maggot like insect in one of the mangosteen ( beautiful tropical fruit). I then informed one of the serving staff and proceeded to open the rest of the mangosteen and found that all the inside flesh of the remaining mangosteen were yellow stained indicating that either the fruit were not fresh or infested with insects. I contact the front desk in the afternoon and one of the duty manager contact me but no apology was made Read less

Resort is 34 years old and looks it - avoid Luxury Escapes deals with vouchers as they're poorly conceived and executed. Positives first: Got a suite and an adjoining room - both remarkable in size and fittings - the suite was truly outstanding. Staff were always friendly and efficient but very quick to charge - incorrectly. Nampu serves very high quality Japanese food - which was tempered by the fact they don't really have meal sized courses and I have vouchers for courses... Negatives: Resort is 34 years old apparently, and looks it - it is a little dishevelled. One of the breakfast venues was closed for maintenance and the others were correspondingly busy as a result. Part of the slide pool was also sectioned off for maintenance reasons. Food was very good but generally not laudable or particularly memorable. We had a Luxury Escapes deal [NEVER AGAIN] which supposedly included two courses free - every meal. The staff however, deemed sides as courses meaning i constantly had to explain that a piece of bread or a side salad is not a course and then had to get the bill adjusted accordingly - more than annoying given i was there for two weeks. Drinks: Weirdly expensive. I paid $AUD16 for a spiced rum and coke - cocktails were cheaper. They wanted me to pay $AU18 to use the table tennis table at the gym, which was beyond stupid and a blatant, disappointing cash grab. It sits there largely unused and should be available to all paying guests. Summary: Overall we had a very relaxing time - the moronic death by a million stupid vouchers luxury escapes deal notwithstanding. The resort is large but a lot of it is not really accessible as it is dedicated to conferences etc. It is in a great location. The staff [with the exception of one manager who refused to honour one of my massage vouchers at time of checkout] were welcoming, invariably friendly and efficient. However, I would not return to this resort until after a refit - and even then I would have to think about it. Previously stayed at The Mulia and the food there was streets ahead of what was provided at the Grand Hyatt. Pools at the Grand Hyatt were better than those at The Mulia though - so depends on what your focus is. I wanted amazing everything given the price but I did not get amazing food... and I felt absolutely ripped off on more than one occasion beacuse of the Luxury Escapes deal. I would have had a better time if I hadn't booked through Luxury Escapes - should have booked direct and will in future. Note: Luxury Escapes asked me to confirm people and luggage numbers for airport transfers. They then arrived at the airport to collect a family of 5 with 4 large suitcases and a surfboard with a medium sized SUV - they had to arrange a minibus... when we left, and despite me reminding them that we are a family of 5 with 4 suitcases and a surfboard they turned up with another medium sized SUV. A debacle, in short... Read less
