Six Senses Samui

Koh Samui, Thailand

Virgin rating

The hotel

When you arrive at the Six Senses Samui the view is at once exhilarating and strangely familiar. The sweeping vista of palm-clustered islands and shimmering seas brings to mind all the fantasies we have of the Orient's beaches. The resort is made up of a stunning collection of bamboo-clad villas looking out over the Gulf of Thailand. At Six Senses there are only villas, most with a private swimming pool with polished wooden floor interiors. Following the renovation, all villas are fully enclosed and air-conditioned so there are no "open-air spaces" as such and the bathroom and bedroom have a sliding door that separates them. The restaurants and bars are open pavilions, deriving their aesthetic from the communal longhouses of traditional river communities. The view, the architecture, the style and even the temperature intentionally immerse the guest in the location. This is back to nature – without a hint of roughing it. Six Senses Samui gives you everything, including a comprehensive spa that offers every conceivable treatment in Asia.

Our Koh Samui holiday was one of the biggest holidays I was looking forward to with my husband and daughter post my twin delivery. We booked the ocean front pool villa for 4N , everything about this villa is so lovely especially the stunning view of the sea. Check in All though they have a 3pm check in policy, they very kind enough to give us the room by 12 noon. The entire check in process was so smooth, while we were waiting for our room to get ready .. Lena was kind enough to keep us entertained by taking us to the farm on the property and also to show us every amenity and facility here. Food & Beverage Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day here. So many options from smoothie bowls to local Thai breakfast. Their Thai tea will always be my favourite. Dining on the hills is such a calm and beautiful spot to dine at. Tak and the rest of the team took such good care of us especially my daughter. I miss their Tamarind Margaritas already. The other place that I really enjoyed was the restaurant by the beach.. another lovely spot on the property. Spa A 10/10 for their massages. So relaxing and the views are so stunning from here too, if you get a chance get a coconut body wrap done followed by a relaxing massage. I will be taking back a suitcase full of memories from here. 4N still don’t seem enough. I loved my time here and I’m so glad to be heading back home very relaxed. Read less

Utterly spectacular resort, in keeping with other Six Senses resorts we have been lucky enough to visit. Service is second to none, setting is just beautiful, tons of free activities which we loved, best massage we have ever had, I could go on and on. Great location too. I spent two nights at Six Senses Samui late in November to celebrate my birthday. The resort is 5-star in every way. The villa was spacious and sparkling clean, the service was top-notch and food was delicious. I requested a villa surrounded by lots of trees and was not disappointed. The main pool offers breathtaking views and is long enough for lap swimming. My GEM Khun Aum was very helpful. I’m also glad that the resort has some villas that don’t have a pool, which allow me to avoid paying extra money for a tiny pool that I won't use anyway. Note that the hideaway pool villa that I stayed in was a complimentary upgrade. I feel sorry for the resort that a large and not so beautiful residential complex has been built to the south on the east side of the resort and somewhat ruins the sense of seclusion. A few things to note: the door to the villa won’t stay closed if it’s not locked, lighting control panel was not near the bed but hidden in the wall, the TV was rather outdated and there was some unpleasant smell at the south edge of the main pool. Overall, I find Six Senses Samui absolutely worth visiting. I also would like the thank the resort for offering affordable deals from time to time. I will be looking for those deals and visit again if possible. Read less

Pictures don't quite do this location justice, and do not capture the charm and warmth that accompany the villas here at Six Senses. We had an excellent stay. The friendly staff work tirelessly and were always available to us -- the service is really top notch. Our hideaway room was spacious and had a beautiful view. I love that everywhere we went felt like we were in a rainforest canopy. The beach is secluded and beautiful during the day, and the "quiet pool" on the hill has an amazing view of the sunset while being conveniently close to the restaurant. We really loved the complimentary "sunset party" that the resort threw while we were there, as well as the "library" which was a wonderful quiet space to do a little work and read in air conditioning. Food was delicious - breakfast was abundant and drinks were generous, including the many mocktails available. The spa was superb. You're not too far from Chaweng or Choengmon, and Grabs were available within minutes whenever we wanted to go "into town". This resort remains rooted in nature, and it feels very special everywhere you go. Keep in mind it is on a steep hill and so there are many stairs (though golf carts are easily available at any time of day to get you up and around from your room to any part of the resort) We'll have to come back to try the dinner on the rocks.
