The hotel

Key West's historic Old Town has an enchanting ambience with its pretty, tree-lined streets and ornate architecture. The Ocean Key Resort is one of the only hotels to be located right on Mallory Square, overlooking the ocean and giving you front-row seats to the spectacular sunsets. Myriad street entertainers make the square come alive and you can wander between jugglers, 'statues' and performers — or simply retire to the hotel's fantastic Sunset Pier bar and grill, which serves delicious chargrilled seafood and refreshing cocktails with which to toast the setting sun.

I paid a premium price for a mediocre room. The location on the 4th floor with million dollar sunset views was quite fabulous but I could (and did) get the same experience on the sunset pier. We arrived after dark and the concierge checked us in, led us to an elevator that was a maze to get to and left us to find our room, which was also a maze -like experience. Our room was as far away from the hotel desk as possible in this sprawling building and there was no offer of assistance with luggage. Turns out there is an elevator right next to our room, but that wasn't mentioned at check-in. Regarding the restaurant, it was rated 2nd best in all of Key West on trip advisor. I would not concur, as with the room, I found it mediocre and we got better service much better food, for about the same price down the street at the A&B seafood house. The restaurant is quite small and resembles a motel coffee house, suitable for breakfast and lunch. As for value, I've stayed in better for substantially less cost. Read less

The resort is remarkable. Rooms are bright and spacious. My only complaint is in the bathroom. Although they are large and beautifully done, there is almost no counter space or storage. Shelves under the sinks would be a great addition. The staff is remarkable. A special shout to Craig in the front office, to Kim in the restaurant, and to Nick in… Read more

Shelves under the sinks would be a great addition. The staff is remarkable. A special shout to Craig in the front office, to Kim in the restaurant, and to Nick in the bar. They provided exceptional service and made everything special. Don’t miss the Sunday brunch. It is the best I have ever had. Thanks fora wonderful trip! Read less

Outstanding in every way! The staff, the room, the view, the food, the dinks and the pool all top notch. Clean and comfortable room that was recently updated. Location can’t be beat in Old Town within walking distance of many bars, restaurants and the seaport.

The service is amazing and the location is unbeatable. Ocean views. Right at Duval, but away from the noise and insanity when you are ready to rest. What a great place to stay! Great location, near the action (Duval) but not too near. Service was a “10” as was concierge. Rooms are spacious, clean and well-appointed. Onsite restaurant (breakfast and dinner) was very good. Check in and Check Out was fast and billing was accurate.
