I am a loyal Marriott Bonvoy customer so much so that I have a Platinum Elite status. The loyalty, which I now realize includes some stupidity, is now gone. I arrived at the Tampa International Airport in the late afternoon of Jan 21, 2025 to find that my early evening flight to Atlanta had been canceled and I had been booked on a 7 AM flight the next day. A freak snowstorm had hit the southern states and had caused flight delays and cancelations throughout the southern US. Looking around the airport terminal I found that I had found a place to stay for the evening, this hotel. Well on registering I was informed that the nightly rate was $499! (By way of background I was on the way from a meeting which was held at a Marriott Signature property in Tampa, the Vinoy, which is a classic historic full-service hotel in a great location and the daily rate was $480.) Well I was at the airport and I had an early morning flight so I "bit the bullet." As a Bonvoy member I have stayed at many Marriott branded hotels some of which are not "top of the line" by a long shot. Getting to my $500 room ( I exaggerate by $1) I realized that the room had not seen a refurbishment in a long-long-time, basically a bottom of the line Marriott, you know popcorn ceilings and just old. In checking the Marriott website the rates that they were charging significantly exceeded the median published rates. In other words, "we are going to be at 100% occupancy so let's just try to gouge anyone dumb enough to book a room for the night." Well after my $500 one night stay I did get to Atlanta which will be a separate review with, believe it or not, even more price gouging. I know Marriott does not own hotels, just manages them. However, it is presumably Marriott employees who are involved in gouging people, even loyal customers, as the result environmental issues. I asked, why do you continue these people? Read less

If you want to stay at a hotel that hasn’t seen a refurbishment in a long time while being price gouged this is your dream stay. In summary, if you want to stay in a hotel where management takes advantage of an environmental issue and you want to pay an outrageous amount of money for a facility that has the quality of the lower end of the Marriott brand, this is your place. While conveniently connected to the airport terminal, it’s not worth the $400 price tag for the night. Upon midnight arrival, there was a room category mixup which left me with a poor initial impression. Rooms are very dated. WiFi worked well enough the next morning to get some work done and they did accommodate an extra hour late checkout. At… Read more

I stay here all the time especially when they fly out of TPA, the bartenders are not only arrogant but obnoxious. I sat at the bar tonight and watch many people come and go, along with many people get totally inebriated, loud and obnoxious. While I had four drinks, I was ignored and totally treated like some obsession that just flew in from Mars. The more inebriated and obnoxious people that it seems the most bartenders attended to them, yet when I tried to pay with cash they said they didn’t take cash they wanted a credit card hence the opportunity to leave them a zero tip wish they greatly deserved. They stared at me numerous occasions is it a single me out after having four cocktails I was on the bad list. As the Marriott ambassador member I will continue to stay here, but I will not ever frequent this establishment again, I’ve given them way too many chances and they continue to be discriminatory and obnoxious . If they wonder why they got a zero tip they need to look in the mirror . Merry Christmas ! Read less

My wife and I recently stayed here overnight before a planned trip. While our trip got cancelled, we went ahead and stayed a night as we had to cancel at least three days out in order to avoid paying the entire amount for the last minute cancellation. They offer parking at the hotel, which is subject to a parking fee. They also offer a park and fly option for your reservation, or you can park for cheaper at the airport's economy lot. The staff were friendly and professional, the room was clean and all amenities were in good working order. However, this is an older property with very basic furnishings and our room was 'cozy' and not on the large side. (They are in the process of renovating and updating some areas of the hotel.) This isn't the cheapest place to stay at or near the airport however, you may find the cost worth it for the convenience of staying at the airport. We may give it another try in future in conjunction with another trip. Read less
