Kimpton EPIC Hotel

Downtown Miami, Miami

Virgin rating

The hotel

Epic by name and epic by nature, the Kimpton Epic sits along the water’s edge, overlooking the glistening Biscayne Bay. Take a dip into one of the two rooftop pools, and sip on a cocktail in your private poolside cabana. Seeing as you’re set on the waterfront, seafood is a must, and you can dine looking out on the sea itself. In need of some me-time? Head to the spa for a treatment, or try your hand at a yoga class. And when the evenings roll in, head out and experience one of Miami’s cool bars, or retreat to your room for some down-time.

In a few words - not great value for money. Negatives: No coffee machine in the room. Poor customer service from reception staff - our initial room had a very strong smell coming from the drains and we had to change rooms - reception staff showed an indifferent attitude. Housekeeping very slow - room not cleaned until very late afternoon. Gym - adequate. However, bike seats need maintenance. Water bottles provided in rooms - very expensive - easier to pop over the road to the supermarket. Breakfast - average, really nothing special. Positives: Location - near all the attractions and upmarket area. Easy to get a taxi/uber to the airport. Rooms - large rooms, fantastic views and clean. Ambience - hotel has a great vibe about it. Mainly due a combination of diverse staff & guests. Read less

Great location if you're not wanting to be on the beach. The room is a little worn. I like that they don't have carpet but the wood floors had a few holes. I also had a very hard time getting the room to cool down/it was a little humid. Also no robes or the typical luxuries expected at a hotel this caliber. Read less
