It is very worth to take the bus to the hotel whenever you feel hungry, eat here (the prices are way cheaper) and take the bus back to the parks. There are many activities to do inside the "resort". Arcade (paid), hot tub, pool etc. It is all very clean. Bed sheets, floors around the hotel and elsewhere. Till this point you might think "Why is this a 3-star review?" Even though the room is nice, the beds aren't even queen size, the TV is small and very bad, you can't even watch YouTube/Netflix. There is no balcony, for the people who smoke. The wardrobe is lacking quality and space. Only worth for people who have little kids, I know what it is like to carry your sleepy kids to the car in the parking lot. Thats about it. Read less

While the exterior of the resort was aesthetically pleasing and initially set high expectations for our stay, we were ultimately disappointed with several aspects of the accommodations. Specifically, the towels were frayed and torn, the bed and pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, and the closet door fell off. Additionally, the shower lacked hot water, and the room could benefit from some cosmetic touch-ups and repairs. On multiple occasions, the gates requiring room keys for access were either left open or malfunctioning, raising concerns about the resort's security. We also observed that some staff rooms appeared to be propped open with towels, further contributing to security concerns. The quality of the food was another letdown—it was dry and lacked flavour or options for those with dietary restrictions. Overall, our experience felt more akin to a budget hotel, rather than a resort experience. Given the price we paid, we had expected a quality level comparable to Disney resorts. That said, there were a few positive aspects. We thoroughly enjoyed the bowling and arcade facilities, the retro 50's and 60's theme, and the nostalgic malt shoppe. The resort staff were friendly and accommodating, and the shuttle service was timely and efficient. Despite the charm in some areas, the overall experience fell short of our expectations for a resort of this caliber. Read less

My family and I had very good experiences with this resort as recently as 2022, but our stay in December 2024 was very disappointing. And the disappointments came on multiple levels that may be somewhat related to the resort's aging but mainly suggest management problems. When the five of us checked in after 3 p.m., my daughter, who made the reservations was told that the room for her (including her husband and a friend) was ready but that the one for my wife and I was not. Moreover, the resort apparently had disregarded the specific instructions that the room for the two of us needed to be accessible in light of my wife's handicapped status. When my daughter emphasized that to the desk person, she was told that our room then couldn't be near theirs because they were at capacity and there was nothing open in that same building. Then when my daughter went to go into the room she had told her was theirs, it had the equivalent of "do not disturb" signs on it and sounds inside. When my daughter finally was able to reach someone by phone at the resort desk about this, she was told they had given her the wrong room number and to come back to the front desk for other keys. When she had done that, it already was late and the second room still wasn't ready. So my wife and I had to unload our luggage in my daughter's room and wait till about 6:45, when we finally could get into our room. And our quest for information in the interim was complicated by the hotel desk not picking up the phone on calls, thus requiring my daughter to keep physically going back there. The rooms themselves were okay, but Cabana Bay, like some other resorts now, makes up rooms only every other day, something that my daughter said was not disclosed when she made the reservation. Some things were very good about the resort, especially its free non-stop and courteous bus service to Universal's big theme park, but the management-related problems showed another aspect the last night of our stay, We attempted to go at 7:30 p.m. to the sandwich portion of the Bayliner Diner food-service unit at the resort and were told they could not fill our order because they had run out of bread! I had never experienced that in a sandwich eatery! There was bread available again there, about an hour later, but that was too late for most of us. Read less

We arrived the week before Christmas. The couch was absolutely disgusting. We had a poor experience prior but loved the amenities here and wanted to give it another chance. Bad decision. Couch was gross, microwave broken, shower head sprayed water everywhere. The very kind maintenance man said they use water saving equipment and it won’t get better. Awesome. Like washing your hair in a water fountain. We all began wheezing and coughing soon after arriving in the room. We didn’t think much of it until the second day when we discovered black mold in the bathroom. I’ve attached a photo. We made the front desk aware and they moved our room but only offered us our parking refunded and meal vouchers. Parking is under 100$. My copays for our pediatrician will be more than that. My kids now have full blown coughs, my asthma is in a flare up and all of us have runny noses from the mold. They refuse to refund even half the stay. Unfortunately this is our last stay here. After ten years it’s obvious they don’t care about the guest experience. They want your money. As annual pass holders we are disappointed to lose a hotel on site. Read less

I just got back from staying at Cabana Bay in Orlando on the Starlight side, and it was awesome! The vibe is super retro, like you're in a 60s/70s time machine.
