Our honeymoon at Centara Ras Fushi Island Resort was a blend of memorable moments and significant disappointments. Here's a breakdown of our experience:
Reception (⭐☆☆☆☆)
Our arrival set the tone for an underwhelming experience. The reception team was unaware of our honeymoon amenities and room preferences, leading to an additional hour's wait. We checked into our room only at 4:30 PM. Despite mentioning it was my wife’s birthday; no prior arrangements were made. A simple table decoration request, even with an offer to pay extra, was denied. Calls to the reception from our room often went unanswered until after several rings, and the staff lacked the warmth and courtesy one would expect at such a resort.
Housekeeping (⭐⭐⭐⭐☆)
Housekeeping was prompt and efficient in addressing room service requests and maintaining cleanliness. They stood out positively amidst the otherwise lackluster service.
Food and Beverage Service (⭐☆☆☆☆)
This was the most disappointing aspect of our stay.
La Brezza: Our first night was far from celebratory. Order modifications promised to us were later denied, lighting issues persisted, and dips requested with our food were partially served without explanation. A simple cake candle took an inordinate amount of time to arrange. Shockingly, there was no manager present to address these issues.
Arabian Restaurant: Service and food were decent, though staff communication and welcoming gestures could improve. Once again, no manager was available for feedback.
Thai Restaurant: The restaurant was understaffed, with one person handling orders, reservations, and service until help arrived later. Staff were rushed and brusque, making the experience stressful. We waited 25 minutes just to place an order, and recommendations were nonexistent. Again, no managerial presence was noticed.
Coffee Shop: The staff’s attitude was indifferent and impolite. Simple requests like changing cutlery had to be repeated multiple times. Although a manager was present, they never actively engaged with guests for feedback.
Kitchen (⭐⭐☆☆☆)
The food quality was inconsistent. La Brezza’s pizza sauce was tasteless, and the seafood starter lacked seasoning. Pasta was average. While Arabic dishes were flavorful and generously portioned, the overall culinary experience left much to be desired.
Free Photoshoot (⭐☆☆☆☆)
The free photoshoot was a major letdown. Our last-day slot was canceled due to light rain, despite the weather clearing up later. Requests to take indoor photos or reschedule were denied outright. This rigid and uncooperative attitude was deeply disappointing, especially after we canceled our dolphin cruise for the shoot.
Free Activities (⭐☆☆☆☆)
None of the free activities were available due to unsuitable weather, yet paid activities were operational without any apparent safety concerns. This disparity was frustrating.
While the overall service lacked warmth, a few individuals—Shakha (Reception), Matey (Bar), Mama (Chef), and Sohail (Housekeeping)—made genuine efforts.
Conclusion -
Centara Ras Fushi Island Resort fell short of our expectations, particularly in terms of hospitality. While the property has potential, the lack of coordination, attentiveness, and guest-centric service overshadowed the positives. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously to improve service standards and guest experience.
Would I recommend this resort? Only if you’re prepared for a mixed bag of experiences.
