The hotel

Nestled within the Noonu Atoll, a group of unspoilt islands just a 45 minute seaplane journey north of Malé (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

Board basis options

Half Board option includes: buffet breakfast at Iru Restaurant, and a 3-course dinner menu at either Trio, Flavours, Taste of India, or Bamboo, or buffet dinner at Iru Restaurant. You will also receive 50% discount (food only) at Islander's Grill for dinner.

Full Board option includes: the same meal options as the Half Board plan, with the addition of lunch at Bamboo, Reflections, or Fluid Bar. You will also receive 50% discount (food only) at Islander's Grill for lunch and dinner.

24-hour All Inclusive option includes: the same inclusions as the Full Board plan, with the addition of 50% discount on In-villa dining (food only) at lunch and dinner. Enjoy selected beverages in all operational bars and restaurants, one snack per person, per day at Waters Edge from 10:30am-6:30pm and 10.00pm - 6.30am, daily ice cream at La Cremeria, mini-bar with wine, beers, soft drinks, water, tea/coffee, and 4 coffee capsules, refilled once per day. All Inclusive of the following activities: stand up paddle boarding or kayaking (one hour per day, per villa). One local island experience excursion per person per stay. Deluxe Beach Villas with Pool are the same size and layout as the Deluxe Beach Villas, with the additional of a private pool stretching out onto the beach, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child, or 2 adults and 2 children.

Family Deluxe Beach Villas with Pool are larger in size, with a sliding door separating the bedroom and living area, as well as a private pool stretching out onto the beach, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 4 adults and 1 child, or 2 adults and 3 children.

Pool Beach Villas feature a curved private pool with daybed and canopy, as well as a separate living area and bedroom with king-size bed, sleeping maximum 4 adults and 1 child, or 2 adults and 3 children.

Water Villas are perched above the lagoon on stilts, with steps leading straight into the ocean, and feature a glass viewing floor, private sun deck, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child, or 2 adults and 2 children.

Horizon Water Villas are similar to Water Villas, with the addition of an outdoor jacuzzi on the deck with uninterrupted ocean views, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child, or 2 adults and 2 children.

Sunset Horizon Water Villas offers the same layout and features as the Horizon Water Villas, but are positioned for sunset views from the deck.

Although this is a lovely resort (we have been twice in two years) - please be aware that there are dengue and chikungunya mosquitoes at the resort. We recently came back from a great 9 day stay in December 2024. 6 days after arriving back in the UK I became very ill (hospitalised for 2 days). Blood work revealed I caught dengue fever and chikungunya. Horrible experience and was very ill for about 10 days. Not completely recovered yet (blood work still not back in normal range for things) and it has been over a month. In 2023 when we visited there was spraying on the island and we did not see any mosquitoes. This time round we did not see any evidence of spraying and there were so many mosquitoes. We applied insect repellent twice daily and were very carful but still were bitten. It's a tropical island so there are always risks and I guess I was unlucky, however, be careful as dengue is a horrible illness. We feel lucky that the illness didn't manifest until we were back in the UK (so I must have been bitten by the rogue mosquito on our last or second last day). It incubates for 4-10 days and also that it was me and not one the children. Following confirmation of dengue I saw online that the Noonu Atoll (where Sun Siyam is located) has many reported cases of Dengue. I am posting as I would have appreciated knowing from previous guests if they had caught something like this at the resort. It would have definitely impacted on my decision making for where I would go in the Maldives with my family. Read less

Despite the changeable weather such a beautiful resort and the fact we had a villa on the water meant you could just relax with beautiful views. From the outset it was quality- the seaplane connection was seamless and the lounge was of a high standard. From the time you were met off the seaplane the staff made every effort to make your stay special. Every member of staff was friendly never failing to greet you as they passed. Special mention for Nasif who was allocated to look after us. Given my mobility problems he even arranged a villa closer to the centre. He was always on call to sort out dinner reservations and come and collect us in the buggy. The food in all the restaurants was excellent and varied and better quality than other all inclusives we have stayed at All in all a beautiful experience. Read less

This island and resort are among the absolute best on all parameters. Lovely atmosphere, superb restaurants, friendly and super serviceminded staff all around the resort. Will recommend this to everyone looking for calm and luxury experiences on the Maldives.
