3 days of total disappointment. Will not be recommending this hotel to anyone. 3 hours to check in properly due to wrong room allocation. Took them 3 hours to sort. Our room had dirty bed linen - evidence was sent by email and not addressed until 2 days later. Our rooms were upgraded due to the the error of 2nd room that was requested to be a Twin but set as a double - our first room stunk of sewage and they tried to use bleach and a humidifier to rid the smell which did not get any better....... however, when moved to an upgraded room this is where the dirty bedlinen was found which was totally unacceptable. We paid for a buffet evening meal which was totally not to standard - the choices limited and not variable and no second servings once they ran out for value for money vs the quality of food was poor for a 5* resort. A spa experience was booked for 3 for our last day only to find on arrival it had been booked for 2 only - which meant I missed out so my grown kids could enjoy. After rounding up all our complaints we were offered a late check out without charge. For a 3 day stay 1 of which we were offsite for a family wedding all day - our limited time was not relaxing at all - we spent half of our time resolving issues - if we could have been granted with a refund in hand on our first day rather than having to wait for refund to clear via our bank we would have left to find an alternative resort as the price paid would have got us somewhere better for cheaper in hindsight. Whilst the staff were apologetic - 3 days full of apologies and at times faking through the smiles - this is not the experience we wanted to end our stay on such a beautiful island that we want to call home away from home. We really needed this getaway! It was a really lovely holiday in a calm environment with the nicest of people from this island. The only not so nice people were a few of the tourists 😂😂 The suite was amazing, the best I’ve ever stayed in (so far). The bed was super comfortable and the suite was kept really clean, it was roomy and comfy all round. We had a lovely view of the sea from a good sized balcony with sunbeds on it and it was not far from the beach. The staff throughout the entire resort were extremely polite, friendly, respectful and helpful. Jay looked after us really well on the beach. He was attentive, efficient, polite and a charming character with a good sense of humour. He brought us drinks and lunch and was there for us whenever we needed him. Kavita greeted us when we first arrived. She is a really friendly and helpful member of staff who assisted us with many things. It’s a really great place for a restful relaxing break. There are a few activities during the day however the evening entertainment is very limited. Sometimes there was some basic music which is fine for people who just want peaceful relaxation. We could perhaps have done with something slightly more exciting like some occasional dancing. If you like lots of evening entertainment you may need to look around to find somewhere more lively. Apparently there is a nearby hotel which can be visited for entertainment purposes. The Wi-Fi was good in our room and also at most parts of the resort. There are some really nice al a carte restaurants and we tried a few. We liked the La Marée restaurant by the beach. As an AI guest you could have lunch and breakfast there every day and dinner there once a week. If you ate at any one of the al a carte restaurants more than one evening a week there would be an extra charge. We mostly ate in the main buffet as you don’t have to book it and the food was lovely with several choices. There were sometimes cats, dogs and birds in the seating area of the buffet. Nobody was bothered by them though as they were all really cute, peaceful creatures. Relaxed, calm and peaceful just like the Mauritian environment ❤️🙏🏼 The sunbeds and the umbrellas on the beach are sturdy and of good quality. There is a gym which is open 24hrs. It was nice, cool and clean and was ok for a hotel gym. They could probably do with just a few more free weights. At the beautifully designed spa centre we had couples massages by Kushi and Ravi who each did an amazing job. It was the best massage I have had in a very long time. We would highly recommended them! The environment in the spa was peaceful, clean and calming. There is also a sauna and steam room in there. The hotel grounds are quite large with a lovely beach which was really nice and peaceful with calm sea. Further along the beach the hotel grounds include the ruins of the Balaclava estate (with interesting history), a waterfall, an equestrian centre and large turtles. It’s definitely a lovely walk! Although the stay was super lovely, there were just a things with room for improvement. Despite being all inclusive, we were quite disappointed when they left drinks in the fridge and then charged us for drinking some of them. We weren’t told about it beforehand and they put a sign out with the prices on only when they delivered the bill in the room a week later! There was a limited choice of soft drinks. As they didn’t have what I preferred we went to the supermarket where they had plenty of choices. Although the TV’s were good quality, what you could see on them was quite limited. All we could see in English was BBC World News. We could attach our Bluetooth to it for speakers via iPhones or androids. Androids were also supposed to be ok to connect to the TV’s for videos etc but it didn’t work for us. Good job we brought an iPad with us. The resort has been recently renovated and the majority of it is extremely nice with absolutely gorgeous views all round. One of the things which is possibly on their list of things to update is the pool table room. It was extremely worn out and I a very poor state which did not match with the excellent quality of the rest of the resort. Perhaps it is due to be renovated soon….? All in all we had a truly lovely holiday and would definitely love to go back there! Read less
