The hotel

Nestled in beautiful tropical gardens, Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel is a gorgeous adults-only boutique hotel, offering guests a secluded retreat from the world. Aptly named, it really is paradise here with a pristine white beach and exceptional views of the lagoon and the northern islands from the peninsula. Highly romantic, the resort even offers ‘love nest’ twin sun beds. Also recommended is a visit to Spa Cinq Mondes. Not only does it boast a pool, hammam and flower baths, you can treat yourself to an Indian Ayurvedic massage — sure to banish any lingering cares! At the Paradise Cove, water sports are very much the order of the day, from snorkelling to water-skiing. Come dusk, Stay Bar is the place to sip on tropical cocktails whilst admiring the sunset. There’s live and unplugged music here too but first enjoy dinner at a choice of restaurants. For local dishes, the Dining Room is ideal or experience Asian fusion cuisine at XO. For a real treat, book a table at The Cove — highly romantic, tables for two are set in small huts, right on the beach, beside a coconut grove.

One of the best holiday experiences we have ever had, the staff, the restaurants, the bars and the location. A special shout out to all the staff but a special, special mention to Sanjeta in the Dining room, you made our stay very special, to Rupesh - her hotel husband (only joking), to Anatasia the very special omelette chef supreme, to Sandy who looked after our room, to Deepak at the Peninsula, to Manjoi at the Peninsula and to Michael at the pool. But above all - it was all the staff that made our stay outstsnding - thankyou. See you again very soon. Peter & Jane. Read less

We do not know how to even start this review. We had the most perfect 2 weeks at Paradise Cove. Throw all the positive words in a thesaurus at it, it was that. We do not know how to even start this review. We had the most perfect 2 weeks at Paradise Cove. Throw all the positive words in a thesaurus at it, it was that. To save you from having to read this long review (we won’t be able to help ourselves), just go. Don’t even give it a moment’s more thought. Just go and thank us later. General: The hotel is situated around a private cove with resident only access, total exclusivity. We were met on arrival by warm, friendly faces and seated in the main lobby for a refreshment drink and cool towel. We had arrived prior to the usual check-in of 14:00 (at 11:30AM-ish) so our room was not ready, but we were welcome to start on our all-inclusive package straight away. A fantastic feature is that the hotel has a number of private rooms (I believe at least 9), with their own hotel key access card. These are provided to residents who are either checking-in early, and so their room isn’t ready, or checking out, but have a few hours before starting the next part of their journey. This is great as it provides a secure space where you can change, shower, dry or refresh yourself right up until the last minute that you leave (if you are unable to have a late check-out). It also means you can get straight into the action on arrival, grab that swimsuit and park yourself by the cove, pool or sea with cocktail in hand. The grounds were continuously tended to and you could see the time, dedication and care the staff took regarding maintenance and general up-keep. It was so pleasant to walk around the grounds and was really something special to wake up to every single day - paradise. Rooms: We stayed in a Prestige Junior Suite (701) and a Senior Suite (201), but the hotel is of the calibre where it doesn’t matter what room grade you go for, they are all stunning. We had family staying at the same time as us, some stayed in a Deluxe Premium room, so we really did see it all! For us, the rooms felt bigger than what they appeared on the website, which was a lovely discovery. The décor was warm, neutral, airy and relaxing. Unique light bathrobes and slippers were in each room and bath salts were provided for those with baths. Each room had a double ‘his and hers’ shower which could be controlled separately and the Senior Suite also had a jacuzzi bath, which was a lovely treat. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and we enjoyed the evenings when we came back to find some petit fours, for a late-night snack, or petals on the bed. Food & Drink: There are two main bars, one by the main lobby (The Stay Bar) and one by the peninsula (The Peninsula). All menus can be found on a QR code (food and drink) and we simply kept a tab open on our phone web browser to flick through as and when we pleased. We definitely recommend a shaken mango daiquiri and a Mauritian Ti punch with the addition of passion fruit (clear rum). They also had all the usual cocktails and a great selection of wines, beer and soft drinks. Paradise Cove has 4 restaurants. The Dining Room is the main restaurant where breakfast is served. There is the ‘cold room’, which we named ourselves. It was full of freshly prepared fruit, cereals, milks, cured meats, cheeses, charcuterie board vibes, guacamole (I recommend this with poached eggs) and more. There was a bread/pastry section, egg station and pancake station, with all the toppings you could want. Eggs were not just the basic fried and scrambled. There were options. Eggs benedict, Florentine and more! The pancakes were made to order and were either American (thicker) or English (thinner – but should really be called French – crepe). There were also the usual hot ready to go options of sausages, bacon, hash browns and more. Basically, there was something for everyone and that’s saying something, because one of us really hates breakfast – controversial, we know. In the evening, depending on the day and weather, The Dinning Room has buffet evenings, a la carte or a mix of a la carte and buffet. For example, they had a Mauritian buffet themed night and an Indian one. We also had dinners where the starter and dessert were ordered a la carte, but the main was buffet. It was all pretty self-explanatory and we really enjoyed all the food. XO is an intimate Japanese restaurant higher up on stilts and is included in any board basis which includes dinner. You can pick a salad/soup, 8 pieces of sushi, a main and a dessert. It’s a lot of food and all included! One of us is not a raw fish fan but there were plenty of vegan and cooked meat options which were so tasty. The Cove is even more intimate. Separate huts for mostly couples set over the water. This is not part of any dinning package and is an add on, but wow, we enjoyed our time here. We had a candlelit dinner (which tends to be served by the pool) and a wedding dinner – yes, we got married here, the cat is out of the bag. The food was worth it and we are so glad that we experienced it. It is at an extra cost but we do think it is worth it, so treat yourself. The Peninsula is the last of the four restaurants for dinner and is also part of any board basis which includes dinner. It wasn’t our preferred for dinner but we loved it for lunch. The lunch menu differs from the dinner menu and we tried pizza, pasta, salads, lamb kebabs and a fantastic mango cheesecake. There is so much choice including Mauritian options. We also loved the touch of welcome garlic bread batons and vegetable crisps. The pineapple chutney is also chef’s kiss. Other than The Peninsula, The Stay Bar is the only other place that serves food at lunch. They have a ‘snack’ menu, but they are not snack sized! We had burgers, salads, fried chicken, BLT and chips here. So good. And, if you are feeling a little peckish throughout the day, just between reception and the main lobby area is the Tea Bar. Here, from about 11:00-17:00 cold teas and 5 different homemade cookies, freshly made daily, are up for offer with a help yourself relaxed approach. The papaya macaroons and double chocolate biscuits were a personal favourite and you will be glad to know that they are replenished throughout the day. Activities: Although our mission was to get married and relax, we did try a few activities. There are many more that the hotel has on offer from non-motorised sport to ping-pong, just get in touch and the staff will be happy to help. Rum tasting was a particular highlight for us. Jonathan had a brilliant wealth of knowledge behind him and it was pure joy to go on an island journey with him and the rums. He kindly mixed up some personal cocktails for us to try and offered tweaks to classic cocktails which elevated our experience. We boarded the hotel’s private catamaran, for a sunset cruise, where the crew were so down to earth, well-travelled and had great taste in music as we floated on the Indian Ocean. Drinks and snacks were also provided, as well as the odd towel for those brave enough to dive in. We also headed out on a glass bottom boat and managed to spot three turtles as well as a number of different fish which definitely was a thrill! The sea was actually slightly warmer than the pool but neither were offensive and it definitely was welcomed to help cool off. The spa was tranquil and boutique. We both had massages which were lovely, relaxing to the sounds of the waterfall. The Bride of the group also experienced getting hair and nails done for the wedding and was looked after so well with great care and attention. Pools/Sea: There are 3 infinity pools, one by the main lobby, a small lap pool to the left of the cove and a pool up by the peninsula. There is also a pool by the fountain/steps leading up to the peninsula, but there was a technical issue whilst we were there and unfortunately, we never saw this up and running. Multiple access points were dotted around the cove allowing direct entry into the sea by steps/ladders. There were plenty of sunbeds and significantly more love nests than what we initially thought. Certain areas were more popular than others but we never struggled to find sunbeds at any point in the day. It also never felt busy, there was so much space. We were always surprised considering the hotel was at maximum capacity. All sunbeds were coupled up and had a call button you could use to alert the staff that you would like to order drinks. I don’t think anyone can complain about sunbed drink service. Beach towels are provided and you are encouraged to reuse them for sustainability but of course can be refreshed with room service. Staff: The part which makes this hotel stand out. This is what really sets this hotel apart from the other 5-star places we have been fortunate enough to visit. The staff. They were incredible. Above and beyond. We could not thank them more for all of their contributions to our experience at Paradise Cove. We really did feel part of the family and it was truly sad to leave. Some of our biggest thanks first goes to Sandhya and Alison at Front of House, Pinky, our Wedding Co-Ordinator, and Sanjeet looking after The Peninsula & The Cove. Thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable! There were so many staff members who made us feel at home and really enhanced our stay. In no particular order – in reception, Lolita, Apoline, Kelsey, and Yashna. Rum legend Jonathan who shared his wealth of knowledge with us during a rum tasting experience. Sooka, Manoj, John, Deepak, Yodish, Kaajal, Shubham, Michael, Karishma, Pooja and Ved who looked after us so well. It is hard to name everyone who left an impression on our stay and we have done our best to remember you all, but all the staff should be commended on the service and experience that they provide their guests, including the staff that guests often don’t see or are unable to interact with. They too are such an important part of the story and what makes this place such a soaring success. Thank you, everyone, we will most definitely be coming back (and so will our family)! Read less

Some evenings were table service which made it feel more special. We had meals in other restaurants at the hotel which were made special too. The entertainment was the only slight negative as it was very low key, we prefer it a little livelier. Would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in room 413 Read less
