The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

We went there recently with my 2 daughters (2years) and husband. When we checked in, we saw 2 cots in our rooms. i did not request this while booking (because they sleep in bed now) but i appreciated the effort done. Since my daughters have been climbing out of cots, we requested that same be removed from our room and to prepare the sofa bed for bedtime. Same was never done. We had to remove the cots and prepare the room for bedtime on our own. Since babies have different eating timings and different diet, i ordered food separately for them. I requested oats pudding for next morning breakfast and specifically asked to be served at 08.00 but i understood it was not possible. So i requested to be served at 08.45 but by 9.20 still was not served. So in the meantime i gave them some bread and fruits to eat. For lunch i requested Pasta with a sauce and lots of veggies (all without salt). I got spaghetti (i know this is also pasta) but they were not cut and its difficult to feed this to babies when they just don't sit still. plus it was salty. Now we come to the veggies, i got only carrots as veggies. I did let them know that i was very unhappy with this. The chef came to meet me personally (Which was highly appreciated). i explained to him my expectations regarding my kids food and also the specific diet they have. For dinner time, i ordered pizza with veggies. I did get the veggies but the pizza base was way too hard to eat. Even pizza served at the buffet (dinner) was not good., Even if kept warm still base is not good. The next day, for lunch i ordered penne for the kids ( i mentioned this time what kind of pasta i wanted) with a basilic sauce and lots of veggies. I got red sauce pasta and only carrots and peas as veggies. At that point i was extremely disappointed with the service i got, specially when it comes to kids. A 4-star Hotel does not have veggies in stock?! There are also some positive points: A very beautiful hotel with amazing views and the pools are just awesome. A kids pool is amazing. It has a shade and babies can swim any time of the day. A little heaven for moms. Staffs generally very welcoming and caring. The buffet has a lot of options and it also has a variety of vegetarian and vegan food, which is amazing. Overall amazing food, very tasty. Just pizza cannot be hard (elastic).. not in a 4-star. I've had the best vegan club sandwich there. There is a lot of improvement to be done when it comes to baby food. Now i don't know if i was an exception! Read less
