The David Citadel is the best hotel! Our waiter Said was incredible! Friendly and had our morning cappuccino ready before we even asked. The rooms and facilities are gorgeous and the food - especially the breakfast buffet - is everything you hear about in Israel.
Amazing Breakfast!!

We had a family trip to a Jerusalem and stayed at The David Citadel. We had a very nice time. The breakfast service and staff were exceptional every day. The food was great and Said was a great ambassador of the hotel. They went above and beyond every morning.

We have stayed at David Citadel several times in the past but never have we had such a poor experience. The rooms we stayed in were fine and clean. However, the service was horrible. Beginning on Friday at 1pm we stopped by the front desk to get our shabbos keys. They were not yet ready and were told to return in an hour. We came back at 2, 3 and 3:45 AND THEY STILL WERE NOT AVAILABLE. I asked them for masking tape to prevent the doors from locking but they had run out because evidently, many keys were unavailable. I then had to run out and try to buy tope which was almost impossible on Friday afternoon. So I ended up buying surgical tape at a pharmacy. They still billed me for 2 keys that I never picked up but they removed the charge from the bill when I complained.
Worse than that, was the experience we had at the 2 Shabbat meals in the hotel. We met with the maitre de on Thursday and asked to be seated in a certain location in the dining room. Not only was this request ignored, but our family was seated outside the dining area in the lounge. 4 of us were seated on couches which were so low that our heads barely reached the top of the table. The table was set for only 4 people. There was no salt or rolls or Challah on the table. There were no glasses or wine. From the time we were seated until the time we left, not one waiter or busboy came to the table. We ended up sharing wine with another table and took rolls off the buffet. There was no one to remove any of the dirty dishes so we ended up collecting our plates ourselves and piling up the dishes on the lounge piano next to our table. By the time we finished dinner and left, the dirty dishes were still piled next to us on the piano and piano bench, which was a disgusting view while eating.
The following day, we had lunch served again in the hotel. The service was only slightly better and we still had to borrow glasses and utensils from a vacant table. However, what was even more disturbing was that there was a table of 20 guests next to us, who had hired 4 professional singers, who were singing loudly non-stop from the beginning of the meal to the end, to the extent that people in the dining room were unable to hear each other converse. Many people complained but nothing was done. That table acted as if they were the only ones in the dining room and were totally inconsiderate of everyone else present. The hotal should not have permitted this from the beginning! The hotel charges exorbitant prices for these meals and the service and lack of respect for their guests was worse than a fast food restaurant. During these trying times in Israel I thought the hotel would be more appreciative of their guests. I was obviously wrong!

We are a conservative Jewish family who have been coming to this hotel every year for over 10 years, and we have been very happy with the friendliness of the staff at this hotel. Every morning was a beautiful morning and a delicious breakfast with the wonderful waiters Atta, Saeed, and Samer and others and even at the reception everything was wonderful. This was the best hotel in Jerusalem for conservative Jewish families, but it is no longer the same, and it is not our choice nor the hotel that we will recommend to friends, and this is the second time we have been disappointed. We had a wonderful dinner, and the dining room manager was a wonderful person. Samer he helped us change the table to a better table and we were enjoying our dinner until a family came unfortunately we found out that they were Jewish the girls were half naked and it turned out that this is a manager who works at the hotel his name is Kobi Goodman if I am not mistaken we hope this will help things get back to normal next time because this hotel is the choice of most conservative families
