The magic of a hotel is as least staff visible as possible to make it all happen. I sat at lunch and specifically chose a place in the sun. Guests hadn’t even bothered putting t-shirts or clothing on. Fair enough next to a pool but still it’s a place to eat! This should be enforced.
It was Christmas Day, I bought a day pass and left not much longer after being there.
In my short visit I had someone put a parasol up at my table without asking. Staff wheeling trollies of parasols all very loudly. Management ordering staff around (again loudly). The music was beyond deafening and the Caesar salad was inedible. Luckily. Cocktails watered down. When asking for a dirty martini I expect to be asked if I prefer vodka or gin. This is a staple cocktail and not too complex to orchestrate.
The worst place about the hotel was the riff raff way too many people. Sunbeds packed in a few centre metres from one anther. Very unrelaxing. I tried to find a spot near the jacuzzi as I had been told this was adult only. More children and a lot of empty plates and general mess. Full bins with wasps circulating, I managed a couple of hours and then went to the W Hotel instead. Adult only pool, immaculate and service was impeccable. A much slicker operation than that of the chaos at Hilton Yas Island. This should be a 4 star hotel at a push. I suspect most people at the hotel would be the kind that claps when the plane lands.. this hotel I’m sure is fine if you’re a family and not looking at the intracies of what makes a 5* truly a 5*.
