We stayed in a Signature Suite. His attention to detail, and helpfulness was second to none. So attentive and friendly. Thank you guys. This will have been our 6th (I think) stay at Sofitel Dubai the Palm and we absolutely love the hotel. A home away from home for us. The food and beverage team are what make this hotel for us. Lasantha Fernando is the single reason that we keep coming back time and time again. Every single time we have stayed at the hotel, he goes out his way to make sure everything is perfect for us - even things that I would say are outwith his remit - checks all is ok with the room etc. He definitely goes above and beyond. Our families also stayed at the hotel with us as it was our wedding, and he took the time to introduce himself and make sure everything was ok with them as well. We celebrated our wedding in Dubai while we were there and even on his days off, he was organising surprises to the room which made us feel extra special and appreciated as guests. He also provided an extra special experience for us at the Porterhouse to celebrate our wedding which was absolutely delicious and a meal we will remember for years to come. I genuinely cannot praise Lasantha enough and if for any reason he relocated to another hotel in Dubai, there’s a high chance we would consider following to where he is as he and his team are what really makes our stay extra special. The food and beverage team as a whole are always very friendly and give exceptional service, which is a testament to the leadership they receive. Shoutouts to Tek in Porterhouse for always making us feel so welcome and giving friendly and personable service. Gopal in The World Eatery for remembering us and always taking the time to speak with us and make us feel so welcome. Binoy in Portherhouse - helped us to celebrate our wedding and to make our meal memorable. Jamal in Hong Loong - amazing service and very friendly! Remembered our order only on the second time he served us! We have come to know these people through our multiple stays and really look forward to seeing them each time. Rooms are always very clean - housekeeping couldn’t do a better job. We had lovely rose petals for the day after our wedding and then some lovely hearts made out of the towels. The hotel is just gorgeous and very well maintained. It also smells amazing everywhere you go! Only a few issues for us: Reception staff on check in are still not great. Weren’t really bothered that we had stayed so many times and in my opinion, they are the ones who make the first impression and should be aware that you are returning guests for the 5th or 6th time. The hotel is really aimed towards families now. We are a couple and really loved the calm atmosphere of this hotel previously. However in the last few visits, the number of children screaming at dinner has increased significantly and can ruin the atmosphere. Not the hotels or restaurants fault at all but it is just worth pointing out for anyone considering a break here. Thanks very much again for a fantastic and memorable stay for our wedding and again to Lasantha for going above and beyond to make everything extra special - until next time 😊🤍 Read less

The Sofitel is a low rise 5-star hotel set in manicured gardens and facing the Palm. It is probably 25 years old - the phones are c1990! There are many sun loungers around the pool and beach - towels are provided by Vijayan who was most helpful. The beach is clean, but the waters in the Palm are not inviting, riddled with jellyfish - nobody swims there which is a huge shame. The breakfast buffet is the usual scramble, with a very poor range of meats - stick with the excellent egg station, croissants and fruits. The restaurants are mixed - we liked the bar and steaks in the Porterhouse and the service there is good. But the pan-Asian Hong Loong food was poor - the service was good however and the manager waived the charges. Wine and drink prices are astronomical as we knew - so many guests stick to water at £10 a bottle. The well placed beach bar, Laguna is nearly empty every night despite excellent service - a large ordinary scotch is nearly £40. Superior seaview room is very good and the bathrooms are excellent - housekeeping standards are very good. The buffet restaurant was good for the carvery and vegetables, but the following night was serving Indian-only food which appeared to be re-heated from the previous night. Read less
