The hotel

If ever a hotel was deliciously OTT, this is it. Its 39 acres host enough pools to swim in a different one every day of the week (and still have one spare); 2 championship golf courses; and dining experiences including a Sunday Brunch that will satisfy your hunger for a week, and High Teas with dainty cakes and finger sandwiches. The setting’s pretty lavish too – near Phoenix Mountain Preserve and Biltmore Fashion Park Mall. A Frank Lloyd Wright design masterpiece, with a 1930s pool rumoured to have been Marilyn Monroe’s favourite, Arizona Biltmore’s past is so fascinating they even host history tours. That’s not to say it’s stuck in the past: modern musts here include complimentary WiFi, a fitness centre, a 92-foot waterslide, and five dining venues serving contemporary takes of classic dishes.

There is plenty to love about this place and a few things to loathe. Let’s start with the good: 1. Beautiful property with a great staff. 2. Be sure to ask for an updated room. They are spacious and nice. 3. Pools are heated and open 24/7 with an adult only pool and a pool with water slides for the kids. 4. The sports bar area with big TVs… Read more

They are spacious and nice. 3. Pools are heated and open 24/7 with an adult only pool and a pool with water slides for the kids. 4. The sports bar area with big TVs outside is awesome. 5. Incredible workout room. The best I’ve ever seen. 6. Great trails close by if you want to run/walk outside. 7. Housekeeping did a solid job. What we didn’t like: 1. They have pickleball courts that sit empty because you must pay at least $30 an hour to rent them. 2. The TV is a streaming service that isn’t reliable. Brutal when trying to watch a game. One room was fine, the other wasn’t. And they don’t really have a solution besides turn it off and on again. 3. The rooms do not cool down enough, and it is December. We finally slept with the patio door open. Not ideal. 4. Coffee options are awful. Read less

The hotel grounds were beautiful and immaculate. We had a poolside room and it was great. The pools were nice, but a little cold for October. The water slide was so much fun, even for adults. The hotel grounds were beautiful and immaculate. We had a poolside room and it was great. The pools were nice, but a little cold for October. The water slide was so much fun, even for adults. The gym was amazing, best I’ve ever seen at any hotel. However, the dining could be better. The sports bar and the Latin restaurant are great, but Mcaarthurs dinner was awful. I don’t use awful often, but it’s appropriate for the restaurant. The staff are nice and we had no issues. Overall, I would stay again. Read less

Hotel review I really wanted to love this property…and I DID!! :) But I can’t ignore the other side of my experience. There are only a few rooms in the entire property that are directly above the restaurant that smokes brisket every morning at 3am..guess which room I got? Yea I woke up smelling smoke everywhere, it was extremely potent. Mentioned it to the front desk, no help was offered. Had to open all the windows and air out the room but unfortunately could not get back to sleep. Also, the reviews mentioning being nickeled and dimed here are pretty accurate. I mean $10 for a yogurt parfait in a cup? Craziest price I’ve seen for something like that. Just isn’t necessary. But there are many pros as well! The history, the design, and the grounds are beautiful. The hair products and soap are quality, bed is really comfortable and the pools are amazing. Jackson at the front desk was awesome too. Also, the fact that you can stay at the property the day you check out and use the room key as an amenity key is pretty sweet. I just left my bag with the valet which worked out perfectly. Overall, I loved the ambiance and the people and would definitely come back, as long as I was in a different room Read less

Unfortunately, half of the pool is “reserved” for folks who want to kick another few hundred bucks daily to pay for a pool chair. In less than one hour, I’ve witnessed four people come in with smiles and leave PISSED. Staff allows people to hold on to their free chairs all day while they go eat lunch, play golf or if they’ve left for the day… doesn’t matter, that empty seat is still theirs. I’m typing this from the concrete, while I lean against a hard umbrella pole for back support. Oh wait, make that six pissed off guests who were just denied chairs and told to find a different pool. Thing is, nobody wants to listen to screaming kids at the other pools OR pay hundreds of dollars to sit in the sun. Greed doesn’t look good on The Biltmore. Incredibly disappointing! Read less
