The hotel

As synonymous with Boston as the eponymous tea party and cream pie, Hilton Boston Park Plaza has been a landmark on the city’s hotel circuit since it opened 90 years ago. Reinterpreted for the 21st century traveller with a $100 million mega-makeover, it now adds contemporary décor and mod-cons to its timeless elegance. And you’re in good company, with all bar two US Presidents staying here since it opened. It’s easy to see why, with a top-drawer location near Boston Common. Of course, they wouldn’t all have experienced today’s attractions, which include a mammoth 20,000 SF Health Club, the nightly cocktail hour (well 5 hours) in the Library, and the New England inspired dining of its Off the Common restaurant, with Boston’s signature lobster rolls a menu favourite.

My sister and I, along with her 7 pound chihuahua, spent this past weekend at the Boston Park Plaza. We had a terrific time. The lobby is beautiful and everything was dressed up for the holidays. There were a lot of dogs at this pet friendly hotel but you would never know it - the rooms are clean, no dog hair or smells anywhere! And the staff is super friendly. The food in the bar/lounge area is terrific. I'm gluten free but there were plenty of options. My sister is training for the Houston Marathon so she was thrilled to use the Lynx Club. The location is perfect. Eventhough it was 17 degrees we walked to theatre Friday night, shopped on Newbury and Boylston on Saturday and then took a quick Uber to Beacon Hill for dinner. We can't wait to come back in the Spring when it's a little warmer to walk through the Commons and browse on Charles Street. Read less

Definitely paying for location and the fancy façade and atrium rather than the room. Small, cold (and hard to heat up). The towels in the bathroom were threadbare and I had to request twice for the toilet to be unblocked. And yet another Hilton that does not provide glassware crockery or spoons or a kettle. Instead, a ridiculous coffee machine,… Read more
