The hotel
Set amongst the shaded dappled groves of Sequoia National Park, Wuksachi provides an elegant approach to accommodation with a full-range of modern fixtures and fittings to compliment the sublime surrounding scenery. Throughout the lodge you'll discover rich strains of cedar and stone which have been placed to make the most of the enchanted environment, with floor to ceiling windows and snug fireplaces maximising an array of enduring natural images. A full-service restaurant allows guests to prepare for the day ahead, or recount events during the evening, over a plate of sumptuous Sierra Alpine cuisine; and just before you hit the hay there's a handy cocktail lounge for just one last cheeky nightcap. What with all that fine food and fresh forest air, getting a good night's rest is never in doubt and thanks to a good choice of hotel standard en-suite guest rooms, there's no better place to recuperate in order to do it all again at sun rise.

The best parts of the park are within a 10 minute drive ( and you have to have a car ). The park itself is ancient, awesome and other worldly. A remarkable part of our planet.

The rooms are in separate buildings with no elevators and you have walk your luggage UP from the parking lots. I noticed a lot of older people had issues navigating these things. The main lodge is newer and nice, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It's very dark at night so you needs lights to get to the lodge for dinner if you come later in the year like we did. The food was surprisingly good and there was a nice variety.

Only great thing about this place is the location

The rooms are a long, long way from the beautiful lodge you see in the photos. At night, it is pitch black around the room buildings. The main parking lot for rooms was closed so it was a hike just to get your things to and from your car. No luxuries here. The redeeming factor was the friendly staff, especially Brody ... that guy can build a mean…
