Heavenly, Lake Tahoe

Virgin rating

The hotel

As soon as you arrive, you’ll see the natural stone and soothing wood panelling, like a giant Alpine-style retreat. This one overlooks the picturesque Sierra mountain range and Lake Tahoe. You can even enjoy these views from the picture windows in your room which, handily, is soundproofed to make sure you get a good night’s sleep. You may need it after exploring Heavenly's trails. Plus there’s so much to do here, from gambling in the casino and taking in one of the shows, to dining in fabulous restaurants (or in the all-you-can-eat buffet if you’re really hungry!). If all that sounds far too strenuous by half, fear not. The spa treatments, steam room, heated pool and sauna are all perfect for relaxing.

Stayed for 4 nights in December 2024. Concerned about condition of hotel given previous reviews so upgraded to an executive class room on the 15th floor. Found room to be clean and in good condition. Rooms made up only after third night stay. I had little interaction with staffing after using a kiosk to check in. Disappointed to see that the hot tub was inoperable since its use would have been nice after a day of skiing. Plenty of dining options within walking distance. I attempted to withdraw $500 from an ATM onsite only find the fee would be $57.99! I suppose that’s their way to to exploit travelers in need, however, I wasn’t that desperate so cancelled and got money from a credit union around a mile down the street into California for a $1 free. Crazy! Between the crazy ATM, parking, internet access, and resort fees, I’d say this hotel has a very predatory business model. Read less

The room itself was very nice. Fairly spacious include a large bed in the couch. We were actually attending a hockey game and you can easily walk to the tahoe blue event center. A couple of restaurants to choose from and of course, Nevada gaming overall would certainly stay there again. If you have time, I’d probably go elsewhere for food.

The woman at the VIP checking, Linda, was wonderful. She gave us a great stay and we look forward to returning on our next Seven Stars trip!! The food was great at the two restaurants on the top floor, and it felt like a special birthday trip for me. Plus the distance to Heavenly is unbeatable.

All the staff we interacted with were great, especially the valet guy who helped us (wish I could remember his name!). Big room (we stayed in room 523) with a nice view of the mountains and a peek at the lake. The decor seemed to have been updated. Comfortable bed with pretty good linens, loved the unique two-bath layout. Did not care for the TV. Too small and very dark picture. The absolute worst thing was the shower heads in both bathrooms. I've never seen anything like it. In the stall shower the shower head could only be pointed almost at the shower door. On the bathtub side it could only be pointed almost at the wall. Both only adjusted up and down, but not side-to-side. Not good. The casino is on the small side, and quite dark. I can't complain much though, because we actually left with a few of their dollars playing video poker. Change the shower heads and I'll be back. Read less
