Mammoth Mountain Inn

Mammoth, California

Virgin rating

The hotel

Built in 1957, Mammoth Mountain Inn was Mammoth's first ski-resort accommodation and the only slope-side hotel at Mammoth's Main Lodge. Today it offers activities year round — in summer there's hiking, biking and outdoor adventures, and in winter it's a core skiers' and snowboarders' paradise, with the ultimate entry point to the slopes. Ski to the hotel at the end of the day and you can soon be blowing the steam off your hot toddy. Take a dip in the outdoor pool or one of the indoor or outdoor hot tubs. The Yodler dining terrace is the ideal place for a light snack on a sunny day and the great après-ski atmosphere in the Dry Creek Lounge is further enhanced by regular live music.

You cannot beat the location views and accessibility of this hotel, situated right on top of the mountain it creates a very easy and peaceful experience from the moment you check in. The staff are so incredibly warm and welcoming and Seth helped make good memories happen (thanks man). The hotel is cozy and mountain cabin vibes, the rooms aren't super fancy but the bed was clean, has hot water and shower products, fridge and good channels on the tv like HBO. The ski lifts are literally within walking distance and the views from the window are incredible. Read less

I had an amazing stay at the mammoth Inn I was more than welcomed by Seth as soon as walked through the front door. I would also highly recommend stopping by the shop in the main building for a warm cup of coffee freshly brewed by your barista Nate. Our group has been coming the same time for the last 50 plus years. We always plan to be in the same wing with gathering rooms at end of hall. In the last three visits we have had problems with room reservations upon arrival. Wish we could have more planning on MMI before we arrive.

Great stay, very friendly staff. Seth and Cody really helped me out when I arrived early. No easier way to get onto the mountain for a few days to rip it up. It's not the fanciest of accommodations, but if you're going to mammoth you're going for the hill to either ski/snowboard or mountain bike not for a fancy hotel stay.
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Older hotel right at the base of 3 lifts at the Main Lodge

An older hotel right at the base of 3 lifts, so great access for skiing from the Main Lodge.. Underground parking and hot tubs were nice (although some were not "hot". Would not recommend the standard queen room; no desk, table or chair. Upgrade to the double queen or king to get these "amenities." Limited menu at the hotel bar/restaurant.
