402 comfortably appointed guest rooms and suites on 3 floors with 2 lifts in total. Now featuring a modern beach house ambience with some rooms featuring a balcony or terrace. Air-conditioning, 37" flat-screen LCD TV, coffee maker, fridge, safe, iPod iHome docking station, iron and board, and hairdryer. Standard Rooms with 1 king-size or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Pool View Rooms have the same amenities as Standard Rooms but with views of the Indulge pool plus a spacious patio or balcony, with 1 king-size bed or 2 double beds, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child.

Balcony View Rooms, with the same amenities as Standard Rooms, have views of the bay, swimming pool or golf course from the balcony, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child.

SHOR American Seafood Grill (a modern beach house ambience serving locally sourced Southern California-inspired cuisine). Starbucks® coffee and breakfast are available in the mornings, plus cocktails in the evenings at the Newporter lounge and outdoor patio. First I want to exempt the hotel employees from my review. There is not much they can do about the issues I have with this property, and everyone I encountered was kind and helpful - to the extent they could be. Ok, here goes. If you are looking for peaceful mornings and a quiet retreat, this is not your place. The hallway creaked under the carpeting when we walked to our room - and the hallway and exit stairwells smelled "old". The room was big and bright, but right outside our balcony door were data cables just hanging down the side of the building. Not camouflaged in pipe or tubing - just hanging. There was some sort of machine (generator perhaps?) that would turn on and off constantly, and while not the same decibel level of a jet engine, it rather sounded like one. I was there 5 nights. Only one of those nights was this machine quiet. There isn't much sound-proofing between the rooms either. One night one our our neighbors was on her phone from 8:30 pm until 2:30 am. Now, she has every right to talk on the phone in her room. But I heard every word she said. Another morning, the other neighbor got onto a business phone call at 5AM. Again, we heard every word. Oh, and housekeeping starts work around 7:30 am. They don't talk overly loud, but if you are in your room, you will be able to hear their conversations clearly. Also, when someone shuts their door - and I'll be honest, most people just let their doors slam - every other door on the hallway will vibrate in a wave like a little percussion section. My husband was attending an on-site conference and left the room early, so I thought my mornings would be leisurely and quiet. That did not happen. There would be about 90 minutes of calm around 10 am, but the rest of the day was just loud. And finally, the bathroom - at least in our room - hasn't been updated. There is still a tub/shower, and it was narrow and slippery. There is a bath mat provided - please use it. I am 5'6" tall, and the shower head was low even for me. This property could be really spectacular - I hope Hyatt will give it the upkeep and updates it should have. Read less

The room was a pleasant surprise—clean, spacious, with a nice view. I really wanted to come back for the room. Self parking arm almost fell onto our car so beware of that. Checkout process felt like I was again inconveniencing the staff! Keep in mind I literally didn’t ask for anything from them or give them a hard time at all during my stay, just checked in and checked out. I now understand why the checkout process is now available through the app—to prevent experiences like this. Maybe you’ll have a better experience but I’m just thankful I didn’t pay cash. +1 star because it was free. Read less

Best hotel allowing pets I've ever encountered. People with their dogs are so happy. Hotel itself is older but has character and a wonderful layout. Rooms are big and well-furnished. We stayed at this property for 1 night as a family of 4. The front desk staff was friendly and so were all the housekeepers who were walking around - they all greeted and smiled. The property common grounds are manicured and very family friendly. Kids had a great time with the large lawn games (chess and shuffleboard). The lobby and lounge areas were very pretty and comfortable to hang out in while waiting for our room to be ready. However the room was very poorly maintained and a definite disappointment. We were in the Balboa building, with 2 double beds. Dirty old carpeting - one of the beds was about 6 inches from the wall, making it much too narrow to fit a vacuum which would explain why there were crumbs there. So gross. The rest of the furniture was fine but also old. The beds were fine linens were nothing special but looked clean. The bathroom was a big let-down. Mold around the toilet, around the shower walls, peeling wall paper, rusty door hinges, old filthy door. Towels were ok but they didn’t match - some where fluffy and new some were old and thin, not very soft. Also one had gross hair on it. These all seem to have such easy fixes to clean up the appearance I’m surprised Hyatt isn’t better at maintaining their rooms. Overall just not what you’d expect at a Hyatt property in a high end beach town. If you are going for an event it’s fine, property is in a great location near several points of interest. But I wouldn’t recommend it otherwise unless there are renovated rooms Read less
