I had high hopes based on previous reviews. Pluses: Staff is very friendly, location is very convenient , welcome drink coupon is a nice touch and the beds are dreamy. We booked a room for our family of 5 here as this is one of the few hotels with a room for 5. We also booked an additional room for family. After arriving at 4 pm, one of our 2… Read more
I had high hopes based on previous reviews. Pluses: Staff is very friendly, location is very convenient , welcome drink coupon is a nice touch and the beds are dreamy. We booked a room for our family of 5 here as this is one of the few hotels with a room for 5. We also booked an additional room for family. After arriving at 4 pm, one of our 2 rooms was not available. We tried to find parking at their recommended spots but there was an event going on so we had to park in a garage 15 minutes away unless we wanted to pay $90 for parking until midnight and find another spot or pay additional for the night. No thanks! We had to wait another hour for our room. The hotel is dog friendly and you could definitely tell a dog had recently been in our room from the smell. I love dogs and have stayed in many kimptons and other dog friendly hotels without issue. We headed off to grab a bite and came back at 9ish with the plan to go back out after setting up the sofa bed for our 6'3" son. We couldn't get it open, so hotel staff came up to help and told us it was broken and there were no other rooms available. Why would you book a family of 5 (on the booking) in a room where 5 people can't sleep? His choices were sleep on the smelly dog floor or make do on the small sofa when we paid for a sofa bed. After waiting for staff and finally just setting up the sofa to make it as comfortable as possible, we were all too frustrated and tired to go back out as he was leaving at 5:30 am for the airport. We thought we would just get some sleep. Even with earplugs, there was so much noise nonstop. We had a room on the 4th floor at one end and other family members had a room on the second floor opposite side and they didn't get sleep either from the noise. We were there on a Saturday night, but it is one of the noisiest hotels I have ever slept in. People were screaming and partying and you couldn't tell where it was coming from. I love smaller boutique hotels and smaller chains, but unfortunately, this one did not meet many of our expectations. Maybe it was a series of flukes, but for the price we paid, it was far from worth it. There are too many options in the Gaslamp district. Read less

I stayed at Hotel Z, Staypineapple this past weekend (Jan 24-26). Other than a hot water issue on Saturday (which was a MINOR inconvenience in the a.m.), the stay was great. Very clean hotel (rooms, hallways, lobby). The front desk staff were GREAT. Would I stay there again? Yes, ABSOLUTELY, and thank you for the Water Bottle! … Read more

Check-in At the hotel's encouragement, I checked in from home, as the email from the hotel suggested it would save time, but the front desk staff person asked every question I submitted online, so it was redundant. Bed I figured from other reviews that the bed would be comfortable, but it was average to poor. Room size Rooms are tiny, which is not that big of a deal to me, but... Bathroom Bathroom has a sliding "barn" door and no fan which means no privacy, especially given the small room. Natural gas supply issue so no hot water during our stay. Amenities the hotel highlights as if they are special are just basics everyone expects at any hotel. Bright yellow chair in the room had worn out fabric and was discolored. Read less

Great stay! We visited with our adult children, staying in two rooms. Fabulous location, fun vibe, complementary drink on arrival, free use of bikes, staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, couldn’t ask for more. Would totally recommend a pineapple stay!

I truly loved this hotel. We got a welcome drink when we checked in, which was awesome. It included alcohol. Also, I love the European style bedding where it came with two different comforters. One of the comfiest beds I’ve ever slept in.The room is really clean. The only thing I didn’t like is that I could hear every footstep the person above us… Read more
