Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great hotel with noise issues

I have to preface my review with the hotel was nice, clean, and staff was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable. The issue is how thin the walls are. I could hear every door slam, toilets flushing, shower running, and the ice machine crashing ice into the ice buckets(I was well away from the ice machine). Road noise and people partying could… Read more

I could hear every door slam, toilets flushing, shower running, and the ice machine crashing ice into the ice buckets(I was well away from the ice machine). Road noise and people partying could also be clearly heard from outside. Walking the halls I could hear TikTok/reels clearly playing on phones. Any conversation in the halls was clearly heard in my room. I really liked they provided some bottled water in the room and had water in the lobby. While I liked the staff and hotel in general I would choose somewhere quieter with more privacy in the future. Read less

I stayed 3 nights in a Studio Suite, which was comfortable, clean, and well thought out. Small touches like bedside wireless chargers for mobile devices, as well as hotel amenities, were fantastic. Location is excellent: walking distance to great bars and restaurants (including late night tacos at Tacos El Gordo!) and a 10-min drive to the Zoo. Although Margaritaville does not exactly target business travelers, as a remote worker (with significant videoconferencing needs), I appreciated the room’s spacious desk, numerous outlets, and good WiFi. The gym was great, with pelotons and even a heavy bag. The lobby had the plenty of seating space to chill. Ice water and infused water were available in the lobby and seemed to be refreshed/refilled regularly. I visited the rooftop bar and had a few signature drinks, which were as expected from its namesake brand. Crowd was friendly and we made a few new friends. Note, the rooftop bar is indeed on a roof—of sorts; it’s in an open air space on the 4th floor, not the roof/top of the entire building. The downsides: My suite lacked any real view. Our single window looked out to a side street. In fact, judging by the building location, I’d think that very few rooms have a view or much natural light (at least in overcast January weather). The valet seems to be often short staffed, especially around check-out time. And at $65/night, it’s not exactly a deal, although that probably the expected rate for the location. Neither of these drawbacks would hold me back from staying here next time I’m in the area. Read less

We hosted a 4-day conference at this location. The staff and service were amazing. Guests raved about the menu, and the staff were there for whatever we needed. Planning was a breeze. We held a Welcome Reception on the rooftop, which was a great way to open up our event. I would use this venue again in a HEARTBEAT! Caitlin, Daisy, Mario,… Read more

The highlight of our stay was the incredible room they provided us—one of the most spectacular in the hotel, boasting a breathtaking view of the vibrant Gaslamp Quarter. Watching the city lights come alive from our window was an experience we’ll never forget. The bar was a gem of its own, offering delicious cocktails and a fun, laid back atmosphere that perfectly captured the Margaritaville vibe. The service was impeccable, and a special shoutout goes to Miguel, the manager, who was absolutely exceptional. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect, and his attention to detail and genuine care made all the difference. We highly recommend staying at Margaritaville San Diego for anyone visiting the city. Whether you’re here for the views, the amazing service, or just to relax in paradise, this hotel delivers it all. Miguel and the team have set a new standard for hospitality, and we’ll definitely be returning! Read less

The hotel is well kept and had a really great atmosphere. The pool area is nice and the pool is heated, lots of places to sit. Our room was on the 4th floor at the back of the hotel so was really quiet, we had 2 double beds so was nice and spacious. My only complaint about the room was there was no dressing table or plugs by the mirror (except in the bathroom), which made hair drying etc difficult. My only other complaint would be house keeping, we stayed 6 nights and the sheets on the beds were not changed at all in this time, I know this because I spilt something on the bed on the 1st day which left a little pink stain, which was still there on the last day! Also on some days they would leave a toilet roll and others they wouldn’t! They also left dirty glasses in our room for 3 days, we ended up having to leave them outside the room to be collected. Housekeeping need to do better. Read less
