I would highly recommend this hotel to people staying in the downtown San Diego area. The upgrades were extremely well done atheistically and with high quality. Love the Margaritaville theme - super fun and relaxing. I spent some time at the Margaritaville bar during their happy hour and it was extremely fun! The customer service was excellent - the bartenders were attentive and very helpful. Very enjoyable evening! I love my room - super well laid out and comfortable. The room kept with the theme of the hotel nicely without being too cheeky. I have to say that my room was the quietest hotel room ever! I did not hear anyone anywhere - it was crazy how quiet. I also have to say the lighting in the room was well thought out as well. I was there to work and sometimes the lighting is a challenge in hotel rooms - not this one! The location is awesome, and the area appeared safe and clean when I had to walk around outside the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in downtown San Diego. The Nachos are a must, the best I’ve ever had! I want to give a special thank you to our amazing waiter Rosay who was so attentive, friendly, warm, helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him. The staff really make this hotel feel like a home. I have 0 complaints, everything was just perfect! Read less

We hosted our post elopement celebration at Margaritaville. We immediately fell in love with the vibe and aesthetic of Margaritaville when we were searching for our venue. Brandon gave us a wonderful tour and went over all our options. We knew immediately this would be the perfect place to host our friends and family. For the next 6 months I worked closely with Caitlin to go over all of the details. Daisy patiently helped me with what felt like a million room changes. The day of our event Mario was fantastic with coordinating everything and making sure every detail was just right. Aside from our event, all of our friends and family that stayed at Margaritaville with us couldn’t stop talking about what a great experience they had at the hotel. The food was great, the rooms were luxurious and the staff was so friendly. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. Our group consisted of our parents in their 70s to us and our friends in our 30 and 40s and some teenagers and younger kids. Everyone had a good time. Plus the location is perfect for experiencing San Diego and all that downtown has to offer. We were able to walk to other restaurants and the Midway. We would absolutely recommend Margaritaville and can’t wait until we can come down and stay again! Read less

I liked the location of this hotel as most of everything is within walking distance. The hotel is new, so nothing has been worn out as of yet. There are things I like about this hotel, and things that could be improved upon. Here goes. I'm going to start with the things that could be improved upon. For starters, the food at the Landshark (ground level bar/eatery) was not very good. The roof top bar had decent food, but the service was S-L-O-W. At one point we almost cancelled our order because the food was taking so long. The rooms could have been thought out better. It would be great for one person. However, if you're traveling with a significant other space utilization is an issue. There could have been a mirror above the desk/computer area that could have doubled as a vanity so one person could be putting on makeup or blow drying hair while the other one was in the shower or using the toilet. The lighting in the bathroom was awful. Also, I don't get the trend of super-wide sinks that suck up precious counter top space. Every inch of counter space matters. I had to place items on top of the toilet or on the floor while the sink took up the most space. Really? I don't need a bathtub-sized sink to brush my teeth and wash my face. I did like that the window could be opened for fresh air - which is a rarity these days. The beds were CLEAN and comfortable. The front desk was always helpful. The whole 'chill' vibe was everywhere, which was fun. Bottom Line: I would stay here again. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Read less
