Argonaut Hotel at Fishermans Wharf

The hotel

You might feel like you’ve boarded a luxury cruise ship as you enter this distinctive boutique hotel, perched on the edge of the bay. The Argonaut’s original red brick walls, rich wood beams and ‘deck floors’ help to transport you back to San Francisco’s nautical heyday. At the same time, the plush décor provides all you need to settle in to your charming surrounds. Until, of course, those views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz lure you out to explore all that is Fisherman’s Wharf.

My large business group stayed at the Argonaut in January and had a wonderful experience. The lodging, location and conference service were first rate. Definitely the hotel of choice for conferences and business meetings in the Bay Area.

We were delighted with our stay at the Argonaut! The hotel kindly upgraded us to a beautiful room with a view of the Golden Gate bridge. The hotel felt so cozy and welcoming to return to after our days of exploring San Francisco. We especially appreciated the fireplace in the lobby, where our kids liked to sit and play Connect Four. The hotel also loaned us an Xbox and games to entertain our preteen sons. The hotel is within easy walking distance of so many attractions, including the trolly stop, a bike rental, and Ghirardelli's. We will certainly be back! Read less

Super fun, dreamy & dark, maritime-themed decor. Grab a seat fireside to ponder your next move. That’s the Lobby. The Argonaut is definitely geared for the grown & sexy crowd, meaning, there are no video games, no pool table or even a dart board, no simulation golf or baseball, or a ping-pong table. No pool either, sorry. The kids would be… Read more
Super fun, dreamy & dark, maritime-themed decor. The kids would be bored. Thank goodness, the tv in our room had channels and a Netflix option. Who travels to another city to sit in a hotel room, outside of sleep and showers, anyway?!? Go explore. You’re in proper Fisherman’s Wharf, on the corner to be exact! A wine bar and a restaurant (w/ a full bar) is the extension of the aforementioned lobby. So nice! Of the world famous San Fran trolley, one of its stops is just a few steps away. You may even catch a glimpse of the staff turning the trolley cars around, to return them up the hill once again. Though the listing mentioned robes, we did not have any cozy robes in our double room. The coffee machine (single serving) was a bonus. The beds were comfy and there were enough linens for the four of us (parents + two children). The cleanliness was so so. Tiny dust balls lingered here and there. Again, who travels elsewhere to hang out extensively in the hotel room? Though we did not venture onto the BART and other public transportation much, the locals claim the convenience. Ask them for pointers. Ghirardelli Square is also only steps away. Overall, I’d recommended this stay for adults only. Happy travels! Read less
