Get the true Fisherman’s Wharf experience at this fashionable hotel. Hyatt Centric's red-brick design fits in well with its surroundings, and its arched windows frame famous attractions like Pier 39, Ghiradelli Square, and The Embarcadero. Step inside and see its exposed brick and industrial accessories, but with a chic ‘seaside hotel’ twist. For a treat, grab your towel and head to the courtyard pool and whirlpool. And why not end the day with a glass of local wine by the fireplace — and maybe a tasty crab and clam chowder?

To preface my review...I came in from Sonoma at night for a quick overnight before catching a flight home. I used my World of Hyatt points for a free stay. GLAD I didn't pay for this as it was possibly the dingiest Hyatt I have ever stayed at. Just didn't care for anything from the interior main areas of the hotel to the hotel room itself - outdated/old school/mehhh. The bed was perhaps the one bright spot as it was very comfortable. And the staff were aloof from the valet to the front desk person. No warm and fuzzies there. Fishermen's Wharf is a total bust after dark and we didn't feel safe walking around. The one reason I stayed down there was to visit the Buena Vista Cafe for Irish coffee and that was awesome. The ride to the airport in the early morning was bizarre through blocks and blocks (like 12 city blocks) of homeless people. I had heard how bad downtown San Fran has gotten but seeing is believing. YIKES. They literally have to hose the streets down in the mornings for very apparent reasons. Not sure I'll make San Fran a destination for anything going forward.

I stayed in a 1-bedroom King room with a Northpoint view, which was spacious and well-appointed. I also arrived early and the hotel was able to accommodate my early check in at 9am.
The water pressure in the shower was also excellent, the towels were thick and luxurious, and housekeeping consistently ensured my room was cleaned promptly.
I highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a comfortable stay within walking distance of Fisherman’s Wharf.

The room was very comfortable

The hotel is in a great location because you can walk to many areas close by or get public transportation into the sights areas. My family and I enjoyed our visit and were very comfortable in our rooms. I was able to sleep on their beds, I am very sensitive when it comes to beds.

Pros
I rated this hotel a 4 because of the staff. From housekeeping to the valet and front desk teams to the staff at the breakfast area, they wanted to make a difference in your stay and it showed. It's hard to get a cohesive staff in hospitality these these days and I wanted to acknowledge their efforts.

Comfy bed and clean, quiet room in a centrally located neighborhood.
Cons (sorry)
Excessive extra fees to hotel bill.
Didn't feel safe outside near property. The hotel can't control the outside environment but this location didn't feel safe traveling solo from someone who travels lots.
Decor is outdated. Common areas were fine but the hallways to the hotel rooms were dark and dingey. Maybe install better soft lighting? I've stayed at several Hyatt Centric properties before and felt this place didn't live up to that brand.
