The biggest shock was arriving at the hotel to find that the staff was on strike. Protestors surrounded the property, chanting and banging drums all day and late into the night. Despite being a Hyatt member, I wasn’t given any notice of the strike beforehand. This lack of communication is absolutely unacceptable. Had I known, I would have booked… Read more

Hotel Strike -3 Months -all around Union Square -4 big hotel chains and yet rooms cost the same price as always. There is no mention of this hotel strike which is impossible to get around except in the square of Union Square itself. Besides having to cross a picket line, room feels unclean and inside instead of a cheery holiday vibe it just feels dreary and why can’t these workers have basic health care and improved wages? The strike is from 7 am-10pm and it is loud with steak drums and megaphones and chanting. I decided to look up what the CEO and owners made last year: Mark S. Hoplamazian $56.4 million Jay Pritzker $20.6 million And other big wigs making comparable millions amount. This is unjust. I’ll stay at a boutique hotel from now on. Read less

The hotel is located in a great area by Union Square, close to shops and restaurants. Hotel is well appointed with comfortable beds and clean rooms. Food is available at hotel restaurant/bar. Staff was very helpful and welcoming. Would stay again and recommend.

As of my stay on December 7th, there are union workers on strike outside of the establishment. They are banging on barrels and shouting at all hours of the night. Our room was on the “striking side” as the front desk put it. We were still able to hear the noise on the 29th floor. The bathroom faucet would leak all over the sink too. Asking… Read more

Our room was on the “striking side” as the front desk put it. We were still able to hear the noise on the 29th floor. The bathroom faucet would leak all over the sink too. Asking staff questions would usually result in “i don’t know, it’s my 2nd day here”. It seems like the strike may have something to do with it. It’s a little disappointing, we stayed at this location a few months back and didn’t have these issues. Hopefully the labor dispute gets resolved before our next trip. Will have to look elsewhere otherwise. Read less
