The hotel

Tenaya Lodge’s setting takes some beating — bordering the Sierra National Forest and set on 75 stunning acres, it’s surrounded by nature. The hotel has plenty of activities, including a choice of trails and a guided walk to a hidden waterfall. Grab your hiking boots, or maybe a mountain bike, and head out to explore. At the end of the day, take a dip in the outdoor pool, get a s’mores kit and sit around the outdoor fire pits, or grab your torch and head out on a night hike. After all that activity, you’re likely to sleep well.

Tenaya Lodge is a beautiful mountain resort with a huge potential to offer you a dream getaway. We spent our Thanksgiving weekend there with our friends. Our room was clean and spacious. Bed was comfortable. The resort offers an indoor pool, gaming room, a spa and beautiful hiking trails nearby. Our first impressions were quite positive when we arrived. However, we left the resort quite disappointed due to poor customer service and lack of hospitality we received. We had the most unfortunate experience at Jackalope's Bar & grill - the only restaurant option in the main lodge. We went there to grab drinks after dinner and enjoy our time together as a group. The staff is very strict about seating and after buying drinks you are not allowed to take any of the available tables nearby. The staff was unaccommodating and they were simply rude. Restaurant supervisor and even hotel (night shift) manager have no idea how to handle these situations and comfort customers when conflicts like this happen. If you care about hospitality and quality of service in your stays, don't waste your money here. It's best to consider alternatives to enjoy the beautiful nature with piece of mind. Read less

The restaurant staff was worse—refusing to let us sit where we wanted and displaying a terrible attitude. When we raised the issue, the manager sided with the staff and suggested they not serve us, rather than offering a solution. To make matters worse, the hotel manager never even apologized. The lack of professionalism and care from the staff was shocking, and I will not be returning. Read less

Great location and hospitable service in the deli where they serve coffee and light bites all day long. Not a fan of the shower since water pressure is not high, but everything else was pleasant. They provided hot chocolate and smores kits for free to hotel guests. I'd go back again

It’s not all bad. But I’ll write the bad first. We were there for four nights. We requested a room cleaning on day 2. It didn’t happen. We asked for more towels and they brought them. Then, we requested a room cleaning for the next day. We saw housekeeping near our room, and thought they would get to it. They did not. We had full trash cans, dirty towels, and not much toilet paper. We followed up about the room cleaning and they told us they couldn’t clean our room because it was almost 5. The front desk told me it was “not their department” and didn’t take responsibility for the room not being cleaned. They promised to pick up the dirty towels, empty the trash, and bring us more toilet paper. They did none of that. What hotel doesn’t replenish toilet paper in four nights???? The customer service was absolutely awful and I cannot recommend this hotel. If you are still interested after reading this, the service in the restaurants is great and the food is good for a hotel. I appreciate that the ice skating was complimentary for guests and that they had a game room for the kids. Read less
