The hotel

Buckland is home to some of the best restaurants, shopping, art galleries and nightlife in Atlanta, an is one of the most affluent and trendy communities in the area. If this sound like you're kind of vibe, then the newly renovated, sophisticated Whitley hotel puts you in a great location to explore all of this. If you're staying on a Saturday, we highly recommend trying out 'Tipsy Tea' at the Trade Root restaurant within the hotel, where you can try gin infused teas alongside your classic finger sandwiches and teatime bakes. The restaurant and lounge is great at any time of day though, and you can even enjoy some live jazz music whilst sipping on a cocktail on select evenings. When you're not enjoying the food and drink on offer, book a treatment in the spa or relax in the sauna. And if you really want to make the most of the hotel's facilities, upgrade to a club room to enjoy the additional benefits of the lounge - hors d'oeuvres and wine in the evening?! That's a yes from us.

My daughter, her fiance, and her 70 yr old Auntie who wanted a city holiday event. We were close to everything. Shopping, dining, and sightseeing. The best part was the cider and abundance of lounge spaces. It felt like Christmas. We walked everywhere. The hotel provides a car shuttle in the area up to 2 miles.

While staying for business in May 2023, my locked room was entered and I was robbed of cash, credit cards, and my husband's air pods. Check out other reviews and you will learn this is a relatively common occurrence at the Whitley. They are not helpful in any meaningful resolution. Still working on it. When I need to get away for a few days or meet up with family for a mini-reunion, I choose The Whitley (formerly the Ritz Carleton Buckhead). The rooms are large and clean with comfortable beds. Even the sofa beds in executive suites are sleepworthy. The Club Lounge is a pleasant place for breakfast or evening munchies and drinks. The fitness center is well-equiped. My favorites are the large swimming pool, hot tub, and sauna. I haven't sampled them, but I heard from reliable sources that the spa services are very good. The employees are consistently competent, friendly, and helpful. My new favorite people are Max and Daphne at the front desk. Location, location, location. The Whitley is at the corner of Lenox and Peachtree Road Walk across Lenox Road and you're at Phipps Plaza. Walk across Peachtree and you're at Atlanta's other great mall, Lenox Square. Buckhead Village is a short way down Peachtree. A few blocks away is the Buckhead MARTA station where you can board a train and then inboard inside the ATL terminal. Next time In town, I might find my way to the High Museum. Or Mercedes-Benz stadium. Read less

Onyx attended to us and went above and beyond our expectations to ensure our experience exceeded the Whitley’s standards. Overall, I was very pleased with The Whitley. Aside from the fact that Platinum upgrades at this property don't seem to include suites (not a huge deal seeing as I was only there for a night), I felt that recognition was otherwise excellent - especially after experiencing terrible recognition at the Courtyard Emory/Executive Park in a dark room right next to an ice machine. I was surprised that, minutes after I was denied a late checkout at the aforementioned Courtyard (despite it being a supposed guaranteed Platinum benefit - thereby putting a wrench into my plans), I got a notification saying that my room at The Whitley was ready - at 9:30am and that I could come anytime. This literally saved my day, and was a great start. The room (1914) was in good shape, and had a very comfortable bed. AC was a tad weak, but the temperatures outside were very high, so this may be why. The pool is huge, and even if the pool area itself is a bit dated, the water is a great temperature and there are plenty of places to lie down and relax. I also really liked the showers in the changeroom. I also had a very late flight when leaving, and they insisted that I stay in their club lounge until I was ready to leave. I thought this was a nice touch. There were a few minor annoying issues (like the AC) that I mentioned upon checkout, and, much to my surprise, I found extra points in my account after I got home - something that really wasn't necessary, but goes to show they really do value business. Overall, great property, great service. I will definitely consider returning to The Whitley. Read less
