Once described as ‘the richest, the most exclusive, the most inaccessible club in the world’, the Club on Jekyll Island used to only welcome America’s wealthiest families and famous socialites, from the Rockefellers to the Vanderbilts. Today, this National Historic Landmark has been turned into the equally grand Jekyll Island Club Hotel, where you get a taste of its Victorian heyday and the highlife, with historic tours, croquet on the lawn, dinner in the Grand Dining Room, and strolls along the beach or in the oak forests where Victorian high society would have taken their constitutionals. It’s not all about the past though, you can enjoy modern pleasures like swimming near the river’s edge, and indulging in anything from high-end dishes to frozen drinks and fast food in the 6 bars and restaurants.

A step back in time

The club is like stepping back in time. Opulent and elegant. There was a croquet match in progress on the expansive lawn. The library was fantastic; there was a talk about the history of the island going on during our visit. You can stay there as well.
Lovely 5-night Stay

Went there as part of tour group. Very satisfied with all aspects — large room with excellent housekeeping, food service, and valet services. Entire staff is very accommodating and hotel itself is lovely. Grounds beautifully kept. Note: Conveniently located in historic district, faces the river and Marshes of Glynn, not the beach.
Beautiful grand historic hotel!

There’s something magical about this property! It’s beautiful and historic all in one. The location is amazing and the staff is wonderful. They make you feel like you are coming home! There is so much to see, wish we had more time there! Beautiful property with excellent service!

The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful. I definitely recommend a stay at the resort. It felt like stepping back in time. We had a poor experience with housekeeping and general customer service but it did not impact our overall experience.
Historic and Beautiful Jekyll Island is a must visit spot!

We attended a Road Scholar program held at the Jekyll Island Club Resort. Everything was perfect--rooms were comfortable, food was delicious, classroom accommodations were good, tours of the island/nearby waters were delightful! We are looking for another program that would take us back to Jekyll Island Club!
