The hotel

Picture a white sand beach surrounded by acres of tropical grounds, with water sports galore and five different pools to cool off in. This is the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Amble over to the huge beachfront Super Pool or if you have kids in tow perhaps the family activity pool will tempt you. Rooms are dated (noticeable wear on furniture, tired decor) and housekeeping was inconsistent—we had to request missing towels twice. Service felt underwhelming for the price: check-in was slow, and staff interactions ranged from polite to disengaged. The pools are lively but chaotic, and dining options in the village was meh The resort fees and parking costs added to the experience. Not terrible, but not a repeat for us. Read less

I attend a conference here every year and it's a double edged sword. You're in Hawaii, but you're at the Hilton. Rooms are an OK size but very brown. Want to watch a movie, hire one from downstairs to play on your dvd player! Drinks are expensive, $16 plus tip and taxes for a beer in a plastic glass. For a conference its OK but I would never… Read more

Lisa was awesome. She took very good care of us and she was very patient. so it was excellent service, food was excellent, relaxing atmosphere on the beach. Or dessert to go! Netting helped keep out the birds! Weather in January is beautiful, Hilton has wonderful shop slots to do Koi and turtle ponds!

i found that the service around the Tapa Bar (not the bar staff themselves) was aggresive, we ordered fries from the tapa pool end of the bar, the children found a table to sit at the other end of the bar whilst waiting for the fries, after joining them to wait, a very aggresive waitress started to give us all a dressing down for not ordering them from the table, we tried to explain that we only ordered them as we passed through, and only sat whilst waiting, but she was having none of it and came back twice to hammer the point home and assume her aggresive posture, there are NO SIGNS anywhere around the Tapa Bar that states food can only be ordered from the tables…1/10 for customer service, also if you are not used to it, tipping seems to be mandatory, on numerous occassions we were presented with a bill, only to encounter staff saying that we hadn’t paid enough of a tip and wanting more before being allowed to leave, you left feeling that the Holiday was one big rip off of hidden costs….as for wi-fi, well that was just a joke, you could pick up wi-fi in the Tower, but as soon as you left it and ventured out around the resort, you lost the wi-fi, but who cares they already had your money from the RESORT FEE, i would tell anyone coming to this resort to carefully read the small print, as this fee will add a substantial extra cost to your holiday for us it amounted to $630, and be prepared for the extra spending costs you will definitely incur from the mandatory tipping…which can vary from 18% to 25% of the presented bill, depending on what you bought and where, as for the resort itself, it is spacious, well maintained grounds, it has what is called The Lagoon, where if you dont want to venture to the beach, you can go there, but again beware of the cost, there are no free sun loungers or parasols (which you would expect around a self contained Lagoon) you can hire a chaise lounger for $26:80, an umbrella for $41:80, paddle boards for $57:25 for an hour, or an Aquacycle for $71:80 for an hour…so beware of all these extras when budgeting for a holiday to this resort, its a room only holiday, so budget for not only any meals but the tips aswell…all in all a big resort but very expensive. I will add every employee we came in contact with was friendly and helpful. Read less
