The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why. The accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Red for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

Tower: Rush Room type: corner jr suite We have not been to downtown Las Vegas since pre-Covid and hadn’t stayed in GN for a couple years before that. Last time we were there, Fremont was getting pretty run down. Lots of blatant outdoor marijuana smoke (even inside some casinos). Lots of sketchy people begging for money. Buskers with no skills, just standing in a circle hoping someone will feel sorry for them. Well, Las Vegas and Fremont Street Experience have cleaned up their act! I have to assume that the hotels, including GN had something to do with the clean up, because it shows inside the casinos too. The occasional marijuana smoke was still around, but only outdoors. There were less buskers and less beggars. Maybe a Sunday through Wednesday stay helped with that, but it was still better than before. GN used to have a check in desk just for the Rush tower. That is no longer in use. In fact, the regular check in area is also barely staffed. There is a bank of check in kiosks and one employee guiding people to use them. There are a couple check in staff members, but their desks are discrete and labeled as the mail desk, next to the bell hops desk. They were helpful, once you figure out who they are. We had an early flight into Las Vegas (only one daily flight from our airport, so not anyone’s fault). GN was able to accommodate an early check in for us (for a fee of course). The Lyft/Uber pick up area is in the self parking garage, just outside of the Rush tower entrance and unused lobby. That was convenient for rides, but was a bit of a walk for initial check in. The Corner Jr Suite was a nice, large room. Couch seating area with a tv for lounging. A separate tv for viewing from the king bed. The refrigerator was out of place, in the entryway, but large enough to hold a six pack of beer and a couple bottles of wine. Our rating would be better, but there were a few minor things with the room that could use some attention. The sectional sofa had a significant tear in a corner of a back cushion where the stuffing was visible. You’d think maid service would see it and notify maintenance or something. The shower had good pressure and warmed up quickly, without running out of hot water. It was a tub shower combo with glass doors. The tub was a deep soaker style. While nice for baths, it can be difficult to step in and out, especially if you are short or have leg issues. The Rush tower is one of the most recently updated towers. It is the farthest from the casino, but still next to Fremont Street Experience. Be aware that Fremont overhead music and stage bands go until 2am everyday of the week, and you will hear and feel it until then. The hotel leaves little foam earplugs on the nightstand to help with the noise, but it is out of their control. Day one I was able to fall asleep through the noise. Day two I just stayed up enjoying the outside and gambling later than the music did! There is a small gift shop that sells beer, wine, and liquor at the base of the Rush elevators. It is only open until 3pm, but is convenient if you only need a couple things. If you need more drinks or choices, the ABC store is a few shops away out on the Fremont Experience. Several recent reviews had me concerned about problems in the casino area. I was pleasantly surprised that it was none of that. Clean, fun atmosphere. Security was positioned well throughout the casino and addressed anything that seemed like it could become a problem. Texas Hold ‘‘em tables (players vs dealer) were rare on Fremont Street, but GN had at least one running all the time. The Craps tables at GN all looked to be $15 minimums. Overall, we were very pleased with the Golden Nugget property, their staff, and amenities. Read less

So disappointed in the lack of service and the noise level. Booked an upgraded deluxe rush tower room, but nobody mentioned that this faces Fremont Street and it’s very noisy until 2am. They supposedly have a text system to contact people, but it’s not answered or ignored. The room itself was nice and big, no problems there, but I was told this… Read more

The room itself was nice and big, no problems there, but I was told this tower had daily refresh service and I never once had housekeeping come even after I requested it. The automated check in system is faster, but you don’t get to speak to anyone about the room. Resort fee here covers nothing needed except internet which is free everywhere anyway. Don’t ask for more coffee pods. That runs $25 for four. Water is free. Read less

We had a great time and it was our first time to stay on Freemont, and we did it over New Year's. The suite we booked was clean and the bed was comfy. Only getting 4 pods of coffee over 5 night sunless we bought more was pretty silly, but CVS supplied our caffeine needs. Only getting 4 pods of coffee over 5 night sunless we bought more was pretty silly, but CVS supplied our caffeine needs. Pool was not open (which we knew) but it sure would have been a treat to slide down the tunnel with the sharks...next time! Sushi spot RED (I think?) was decent for a few items, and the suggested brisket fried rice was a cool take on a fried rice classic and hit the late night spot for dinner along with many hot sake bevvies. Take you time and ensure to book the correct tower for the best rooms and layout with recently renovations. So close to so much fun and a central spot to ride share from and I highly suggest. Circa was the other spot we pondered and will be going there next time, as the pricing was pretty similar. Circa having no kids and having a 365 pool is making next choice easy. Either way we like the GN but it is a bit tired for sure, but that is the only reason its a 4 and not a 5 star review for us. Read less

Maybe my rating would be a little lower but my husband and I have a lot of good memories here. We stayed here to eat and play some games. It’s not dirty and the food is fine. After coming this time I believe we won’t need to come back for awhile. But again I still enjoyed it

Awful place. Started from trying to find where to checkin and didn’t get any better. Not one staff member even tried to make my stay comfortable. Room did not reflect website images, raised this and no response. They don’t care. This place is out to gouge every last dollar. Room did not reflect website images, raised this and no response. They don’t care. This place is out to gouge every last dollar. The only excitement I saw with checkin staff was when I asked about upgrades. The sell was overwhelming and I declined. Instantly staff went back to that disinterested attitude. The one and only thing it has going for it is the location in the middle of Fremont Street. To the Golden Nugget: Don’t bother relay this to your team, as you say you have with every other negative review. Your team obviously don’t care! Read less
