The hotel

The Rio Las Vegas has been reborn, and it's still just as iconic, with generously-sized rooms featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and jaw-dropping views of Las Vegas Valley. Seemingly inspired by the Strip’s global ‘landmarks’, the Rio’s array of restaurants take you on a worldwide tour, from the Asian flavours of its dim sum, all-you-can-eat Indian buffets, and the hearty American favourites of VooDoo Steakhouse, which takes in the glitz of Vegas from its 50th floor vantage point. And if that's not enough, you've got the newly opened Canteen Food Hall too! With a fully revamped pool area featuring 4 different pools, the recent upgrades to this hotel make it a real game changer when it comes to great value Vegas hotels. Rediscover the enchantment that defines the essence of Rio, amongst the rhythm of Vegas.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Average stay at rio

Average stay for us while we waited for our flight out of LAS. Nothing special but not much wrong for the price. Smash burger at the rio is good. Rewards program above average. Water in our room did not get hot and had to call and have someone fix this (it was done within 15 mins)

We really wanted to like the Rio. Stayed here because we have Hyatt benefits. But in general, our stay was disappointing. First, the positives: - the staff we encountered were very friendly and truly wanted to help. The only staff member who seemed too ambivalent was a guy at the Mexican restaurant at the “Canteen” food court, but it was not a big deal. Our housekeeper was friendly and did a great job. (We got daily housekeeping with Hyatt benefits.) - the location can actually be a good thing because the casino, which stays pretty busy, is not super crowded. Everywhere on the strip feels like you’re walking against a wall of people at times because it’s so crowded (especially on weekends). But at the Rio, it’s not overly crowded and the strip is an easy Uber ride away. - the suite we had, on the 19th floor, had an extra half-bathroom, which was nice. We also had a sink at the kitchen/dining area. The suite is generally a good layout for families because the “living room” area of the suite has a pull-out sofa that is large, too. - live music in the middle of the casino was a lot of fun to walk by as we were coming and going in the evenings. - the room was clean when we checked in. I checked all corners of mattresses under the sheets and all was clean. The bathrooms were in good shape. - water pressure in bathrooms was good and water was instantly warm when you ran the hot water. - breakfast at Hash house was good and there was never a line. Wait staff was great there, too. As for the negatives: - check-in kiosks do not scan your drivers license or ID very easily so you cannot use them. But the check-in line was super long and was NOT moving, even in the middle of the night when we arrived; therefore, the kiosks are your only quick option. After trying every single kiosk, we finally repositioned a camera and light at the kiosk to make it work. It was an awful experience because we were tired and the smoke smell was oppressive while we were trying to mess with the kiosk. - smoke smell in the casino is truly overwhelming. - elevators had trash in them and it kept accumulating. Especially the first elevator. Trash piled up in corners of elevator and it was filthy. Management needs to put someone in charge of consistently checking and cleaning the elevators. - you cannot reach the front desk by phone and we did not have sheets in our room for the pull-out sofa! Very frustrating because we had no way to get sheets / blanket and we needed them. The phone line will simply remain on hold, for hours. Wow. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Great price for larger/largest rooms in Las Vegas

Basic rooms are among the biggest by square feet in all of Las Vegas. Great views from high floors, with even bigger rooms and better amenities if wanted or needed. Some rooms have not been remodeled yet and are still good rooms but some have and are a pleasure to stay in. The only problem found, stupid dopers spraying rooms with patchouli oil… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Will recommend the Rio to Californians who go to Vegas but don't want the crowd of the strip

A nice place to be close to the strip but not have the hustle and bustle of the strip. Wish to have more table games such as a Poker room. My girlfriend likes the slots but I prefer poker. It's still close to the strip. And me being a buffet connoisseur wish they had a seafood buffet.

Much better after renovations, rooms are nice and overall much better experience. Enjoyed the new rooms and the center bar in lobby is beautiful. impressed with changes but the phone system was really horrible. it doesnt matter who you call, no one answers the phone so you have to go down to front desk for anything you need.
