The LINQ Hotel + Experience

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

Well-connected, the name lets slip the hotel’s ‘link’ to extra food, fun and frivolity. The guestrooms are hip and high-tech, but you won’t be there much with the LINQ’s endless diversions. The centrepiece is the High Roller – the world’s tallest observation wheel, at 550-ft high it takes 30 minutes to do the full loop. You’re also ‘linked’ to an exclusive shopping, entertainment and dining promenade. And, of course, the all-essential Vegas casino. Over 21s can enjoy the pool, with nightly swims twice a week, Champagne Sundays and pool deck misting. Then there are the other decadences: the Brooklyn Bowl, a massive bowling and live music venue, and endless dining and drinking establishments, including 24-hour Hash House A Go Go, whose colossal portions featured on ‘Man v Food’.

Check-in was easy with a kiosk & Ambassadors plenty to help. Loved had options for different late checkout times. Bed was comfortable, room clean & hot shower. Loved could order restaurant food to the room ($14.95). Check out was easy & could even schedule online. Only downside was the tv. Tv was barely responsive.

The bed saved this from being a 2* review. We drove in to Vegas... how to check in was a freaking nightmare. There were no instructions on the website or the confirmation so I had to call and get verbal directions while we were trying to circle back from through Treasure Island. I'm currently mobility limited with a bad hip. I had asked to have a room with minimum walking. I ended up with a room in "District 2" at the end of the long hallway. At least this venue has an agreement with an electric scooter company for rentals so I can get to my room without getting angry all over again. I don't know why I did it, but I booked a special "discount" price. Uhm... parking fees, resort fees (for the wifi I don't use or the pool) made me question why the heck I strayed from my usual eternal search for the perfect refurbed motel. I'm not a resort kinda gal. Still, while we are smack dab in the middle of the strip, that's what it's got going for it. The bathroom is large, clean, with a walk in shower. It takes water a bit to get warm, but the pressure seems to be good. Our climate unit has warmed the room nicely but gurgles. The desk is about to come away from the wall, so I worry as I type that it's gonna come off. The bed is a bit soft, but nothing which disturbed my sleep. Still, the spa... the spa is so awesome it put me back into a good mood. That & being able to rent an electric wheelchair / scooter from the Bell Desk. As of this writing it is $60ish a day + $100 deposit. If you're driving in google maps will have you leaving E. Flamingo Road to go to Las Vegas Blvd. That will not work. You need to keep going to take a left on Linq Lane & then follow the spaghetti drives there in the back of the resorts. Valets will offload your baggage & give you a ticket. I went into check in while my partner went to the self-park garage. Inside the hotel, there are check in kiosks you can use to complete the mobile check in. You receive a slip of paper and then are sent off to find your district elevator. Luckily, they had lots of elevators. The luggage / bell folk have been amazing. Our baggage arrived very quickly and they were incredibly helpful getting our discombobulated selves ordered at the original drop-off. Tip these folk well. They are stars. Read less

At approximately 4:30 AM, my husband and I became trapped in one of the District 3 elevators. The call button was non-functional, and despite pressing the alarm button and banging on the door, we received no assistance. The elevator began jumping up and down, adding to our fear that it might fall. The automated message about "technical difficulties" played repeatedly, but no one came to help us. After waiting and fearing for our safety, we were forced to call the fire department. My husband eventually had to pry the elevator doors open, and we exited with the car partially stuck between two floors an incredibly dangerous situation. As soon as we were out, I immediately went to the front desk to request a refund, but there was no manager available, and we were already late for our airport departure due to the elevator incident. This experience was deeply upsetting and unacceptable, particularly given the lack of response or assistance from the hotel staff during an emergency. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Good somewhere else

Go somewhere else. Spend a few more bucks and stay somewhere else. Or save money and stay at The Rio or Circus Circus. At least those places you know what you are getting. The staff makes you know that you are an inconvenience to them. The Spa is awesome and they should teach the hotel staff about customer service.

The setup for using a laptop in the standard room I had was sub-par enough to stay elswhere next time. There was no chair with height adjustment on wheels - just heavy clunky too low wood chair. When position to use the mini-desk area in the room with a laptop, another occupant would have to bound over a bed to get to the main room unless the laptop user got up and moved the chair. And absolutely no space for a partner to use a second laptop at the same time. Desktop fixture with three outlets - one of which actually worked. Unacceptable, even for a basic room. I don't know if this was bad design, or a carefully orchestrated layout designed to make it uncomfortable to work from one's room when they should be in the casino. Room heater was VERY noisy. Unacceptable. Sub par dining, unless you want every mean at a sit down place where sammiches cst $28. No space is wasted on moderately priced quick et foor places except for a Dunkin. No fridge in basic room. The new Las Vegas amnetity of paid parking - not included in the so-called resort fee. On the plus side, everything was clean and not falling apart. I will stay elsewhere next time. Read less
