Vdara Hotel & Spa at ARIA Las Vegas

The Strip, Las Vegas

Virgin rating

The hotel

Designed for those who want to tap into the energy and excitement of Las Vegas but would prefer to enjoy it from an exclusive, non-gaming and smoke-free resort, Vdara is one of few hotels in Vegas not to house a casino. What you get instead is a cosmopolitan, all-suite hotel that feels blissfully private despite being in the heart of the action. The cutting-edge pool is surrounded by private retreats, semi-private plunge pools and cabanas; there’s a world-class spa, and you are a few short minutes away from a dizzying range of dining, shopping and entertainment options, so you’ll never be short of things to do. The Vdara really is an oasis in the desert.

The Pros - 1. The convenience of having easy access to all four casinos (Vdara, Aria, Bellagio, and the Cosmopolitan) via a enclosed bridge is excellent. 2. The magic of Vegas, how can you not like that. 3. Ride share access is extremely convenient, drive there but that is it. 4. Valet parking is exceptional. The Valets are quick, courteous and friendly. 5. Rooms are clean and quiet. At least our floor was. 6. There is a Starbucks in the lobby 7. Check in is quick and easy (frontdesk checkin) 8. If you are vegetarian, 'Harvest' at the Bellagio had excellent selections, great service and moderately priced. Not too noisy unless you are seated next to the walkway but even that wasn't too bad since everyone is in a hurry to get where they want to be. The Cons- 1. If you have a billing question after you leave, good luck. Try combing this website for a phone number to contact someone, we were unable to find one. There was no phone number on the bill or in the email so that we can contact a service representative. They have an online form but I suspect we won't hear anything since there really is no inquiry as to your booking or confirmation number. Not sure how they would follow up unless they call or email you directly. "Suggestion" settle your bill at the front desk before you leave. The absence of a telephone number is so not customer oriented. 2. This is probably me, but Vegas has gotten so capitalistic in that it isn't so much about being service or family oriented but how easy is it for the resort to make a buck. Example-we paid for self park but the self park lot is inconveniently far so we valet parked. They did credit us back the self park fee but what ever happened to parking your own car. 3. Expect a line at Starbucks (about 15 minute wait) unless you are in line when they open. They have a sign stating you can do online ordering but it was not available for Vdara so not sure what that was about. They say Aria will take online orders but we didn't try that so can't really answer for that. Consider staying at the Marriot Westin at Lake Las Vegas. This hotel is about 20 minutes from all the hustle and bustle and far more quiet so it may be a nice restbit. This hotel is far from being glitzy, you can park your own car, they have a Starbucks you don't have to wait in line for (the restaurant coffee is pretty good so consider waiting), the breakfast buffet is very simple (eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, omelet as you want it, some fruit choices, oatmeal and a toaster that takes a little longer to finish your bread) but may be more for the budget conscience. We did not stay there so we cannot answer for the rooms but we did have breakfast there and it wasn't bad. The service was excellent and the coffee was far better than what I have gotten at Starbucks. If this is your first time at Vegas then don't skimp, kind of like going to Disneyland the first time. Just surrender to capitalism and enjoy yourself and next time around, you can skimp and save. Read less

Vdara is a great hotel and location is good. It is an all suite hotel. While I was on the 19th floor the hotel is in good condition . Rooms are starting to show their wear but overall just great. Cafe is convenient in lobby but limited. No casino in lobby making for a quieter experience.

We stay here every year as a family. This trip started rough, but the hotel was amazing! It is a great place for a family since the hotel itself does not have a casino. However, if you do want to go to a casino it is connected to two and across from another.

I booked 2 rooms. We arrived at 11:45 AM and tried to check in. They said there were no rooms available yet because the check-in time was 3 PM. We said we didn't need 2 rooms on the same floor. We said any room on any floor would be fine. We were so tired, but we left our bags and waited. They said they would send a text message when the room was ready. However, we waited until 3 PM and didn't receive a text message. So we went to the front desk around 3:30 PM to ask. They said the room wasn't ready yet. . Then they told us again. They said the room on the same floor wasn't ready. So we told them again that we didn't need 2 rooms on the same floor. They said they would send a text message when the room was ready. We still didn't receive a text message, so we went to the front desk again around 6 PM to ask. The staff said the room was ready. We waited until 6pm and didn't receive any text messages even though we were tired. When we complained why they didn't send us a text, they said it was a system error. I don't understand. When we arrived at 11:45am, we saw that everyone else had checked in and their rooms were ready. We told them that we didn't need 2 rooms on the same floor, but your staff kept checking us on the same floor and made us tired for 6 hours. Then we got our keys. Feeling tired, we tried to open the door, but it wouldn't open. We went back to the front desk. Your staff checked our card key and told us that they had written the wrong room number. This was the worst experience. We've stayed at Vdara 5 times in Vegas and this was the most disappointing. Read less

Great staff, I spoke with Floyd Anderson, part of the security team at the hotel. I felt secure but not unnecessarily restricted. The accommodations were first class and the rooms had all the bells and whistles. The hotel is close enough to the strip to get where you need, but far enough to avoid any unnecessary traffic.
