This could be the blueprint for any self-respecting Vermont hotel. Clapboard architecture painted in soothing shades. Rocking chairs lining the grand front porch. Elegant New England furnishings you’ll long to replicate back home. Kimpton Taconic Hotel gives the authentic Vermont experience. And its location throws you in the deep end too – right on Main Street in one of the state’s most historic and most charming villages, it’s got all those famous Taconic and Green Mountain moments in virtual touching distance, from leaf peeping, to skiing, to summer festivals. Creating a more homely hideaway than most hotels, they’ve included full American breakfasts, morning tea and coffee in the Living Room, and a social hour every evening. Although you also get perks you won’t find at home – like a heated outdoor pool and the exceptional farm-to-fork fare of The Copper Grouse tavern.

We first discovered the Taconic during 2020 but have returned 3-4 times a year since then. It has become a home away from home that we look forward to returning to and always have a fantastic stay. Without question, the staff is always friendly, welcoming, and enhance our overall experience. We love sitting by the fireplace on a chilly day or in the rockers on the front porch during warmer weather. We’ve fallen in love with the charm of Manchester and the Taconic is at the center of the love story. The entire property has a refined rustic vibe that encourages you to slow down, relax, and take in all that Vermont has to offer. Yes, the rooms are small but they are very functional. In high season, it can be quite pricey but a good value can be found during non-prime times. The Kimpton experience always has something unique and the Taconic leads the pack.

Great stay

Great hotel. Close to the main park of town, couple restaurants am east walk away. Would recommend the walk around Equinox Pond near by. Sitting by the fireplace was great and they kept it going all day. Like most Kimptons they do have the 5-6 happy hour but you are limited to one drink ticket, I think it’s due to state law. Sitting by the fireplace was great and they kept it going all day. Like most Kimptons they do have the 5-6 happy hour but you are limited to one drink ticket, I think it’s due to state law. Room was small but it worked. The star and overall differentiator was Andrew at the front desk. So welcoming, gave recommendations of the area. Great stay.

We were here recently for a two night stay with a group of Vermont wedding planners and venue owners. It was a great hotel for the meeting, but it would also be our choice for a return to Manchester for our own enjoyment. The ambiance, decor and services are all first rate, and every member of the staff treated us with friendly courtesy and made us feel at home. Our room was lovely and comfortable, with a nice Mountain View; and it was quiet! It's a classic hotel in an historic Vermont town, but every modern convenience was on display. As a bonus, the on site restaurant, the Copper Grouse, was perfect, both for dinner after our conference and for breakfast on our day of departure. Highly recommended!

Beautiful hotel in a perfect setting

Beautiful hotel in a perfect setting/location. Friendly staff at the front desk. Would like if the bar was open for a drink in the afternoon - there is no place for a drink between 2-5pm but is a nice bar. Walkable to downtown outlets and several restaurants. Will return.
Wonderful stay

What a friendly and beautiful hotel to stay in! Wonderful staff and Brett from the Copper Grouse was kind enough to suggest some places for us to visit in the surrounding area. We kept going back nightly for both of the homemade soups in the restaurant and then of course struggling to finish the delicious mains:)

Disabled parking near the entrance was appreciated as was the complimentary morning tea/coffees.
It was a dog friendly hotel and we loved seeing all the well behaved dogs.
Enjoyed the classy town of Manchester and its Northshire Bookshop. Old Bennington was a very interesting area to visit too.
We loved our stay and hopefully we will visit soon on our next American holiday.
