This hotel is a very popular addition to the Hilton family, with state-of-the-art amenities, superb guest rooms and, a great location in the city's stylish fashion district of Chelsea, just south of Times Square and considered the new midtown. We stayed for 4 nights in December. The hotel was situated in a nice area, Chelsea. A really great location in walking distance of most of the tourist attractions! Pros: 1) Most staff I encountered were respectful and helpful and polite. 2) Complimentary coffee and tea in the morning for all guests, not only for those who purchased their breakfast option. 3) Housekeeping staff was prompt and efficient. Room was always clean and tidy after they were done with it. Cons: 1) Hotel is very much in need of a good renovation, from the lobby to the elevators and rooms. All parts of the hotel need updating. 2) Christmas decor was not put up till the day I departed (Dec 3), which was a bit of a bummer. The other hotels on the same street had their Christmas decor up before this one did. It made a huge difference in terms of the coziness and warmth of the lobby/reception area. 3) The elevators did not require guests to scan/tap their room keycard to access the various levels. Most hotels do. So this was a little bit of a surprise. Not a good one. Anybody could gain access to the levels with guest rooms. Also, some of the buttons in the elevators were missing. 4) Metal safety latch/flap on the door of my room was not in working order. The room door could be pulled opened even when the latch/flap was deployed, which is a major safety concern. Maintenance came to fix it. 5) I was again very surprised to find that there was no in-room safe in any of the guest rooms. I was informed that there was one at the front desk that guests could use. But, it would be so much more convenient for guests and hotel staff to have a safe in every room. Guests do not have to bother the staff and vice versa. 6) Toilet in the first room I was assigned to had issues, even after the plumber came by to fix the problem. I was reassigned to another room and was grateful they could give me another room. Which leads me to the next point. 7) Late that very night, another guest tried to enter my room. I could hear a foreign language being spoken behind my room door. Soon after, they left because the door could not open, the staff at the front desk called to ask me if was expecting a friend, which I was not. He was apologetic though. I guess I was given the room which was initially assigned to this other guest. And when I was reassigned to another room after the problems I encountered with the toilet of my first room, it was not recorded or communicated to the night reception staff that I was given a new room. It was all very odd. Anyway, there was no more issues after this one. But all in all, the experience I had did not leave a very good impression. Read less

For nearly $400 a night, this was a disappointment. The bathroom ceiling paint was peeling and the room was worn. The continental breakfast didn't include orange juice or any protein. I've been a Hilton Honors member for 20 years, but I will check other options on my next trip.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The staff was so professional and friendly - pand received by far the best customer service I have experienced anywhere when staying in NYC. The location was great, in the flower district, close to subways, Herald Square, Penn Station, etc. Our room was clean but very, very worn. Our curtains were torn, bedding was old and discolored, the carpet was stained, the ironing board did not have any cover or padding so was useless. The bathroom, in stark contrast, appeared to have been recently renovated. There was scaffolding at the front of the building so perhaps it is undergoing major renovations? I will give this hotel 4 stars due to the excellent customer service and location, as for the physical state of the rooms, Hilton can do better! Read less
