I really enjoyed my birthday weekend at The Civilian hotel. They made accommodations to the room to make my birthday special and gave us a free bottle of Champagne. The restaurant on the 1st floor is amazing as well!! The location is amazing! About two blocks from Times Square and our floor has amazing views of the city. The rooms are rather small but it works because we were only in the room to sleep and shower. My only complaint is the lack of a refrigerator or cooler in our room but I love the beautiful of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again next time I’m in NYC and recommend it to others! My fiancée and I were in New York for a night, and the civilian hotel was the perfect place for a first-time New York visitor! It’s close to lots of desirable destinations, has a great theme / decor scheme going on, and, if going out into the city gets to be too much, the in-house options for food and entertainment are great! Be aware : the rooms… Read more

Stayed at the Civilian for four nights and it served us well as a base for exploring NYC. The service from staff was excellent both before arriving and whilst at the hotel. I would recommend the hotel as a place to stay but would strongly suggest that you don’t book a Cosy Room unless you’re a solo traveller. Cosy Rooms are SMALL for two people with very little room for luggage. The bed was very comfortable but the lack of space and hanging areas let the room down. Our room was on the 24th floor and the noise from the rooftop bar in the early hours was really loud - try and get a room on a lower level! Read less

Spent Thanksgiving week at The Civilian and our stay was excellent! We booked a “Cozy” room and it was definitely that - we stayed for 7 nights, and with 2 adults with a checked bag and personal item each, the only thing we wished was different about our stay was that we’d had the foresight to book a “Spacious” room instead. Cozy would’ve been perfect for a long weekend. The staff was exceptional - everyone we met was kind and helpful. Both the restaurant (Rosevale Kitchen) and cocktail bar (Rosevale Cocktail Room) were excellent. We quickly dined at RK before a show and left wishing we had one less dinner reservation so we could come back to Rosevale Kitchen and make a longer evening of it. Make a reservation for Rosevale Cocktail Room Wednesday-Saturday evening if you enjoy live jazz - you will not be disappointed by the ambience, drinks, or musicians. Another cool aspect of RCR is the Broadway Blue Room - if you’re a Broadway/musicals fan, this room is outfitted with sofa-style seating and tons of memorabilia from different Broadway shows (Elphaba’s hat from Wicked, concept sketches of Milky White from the recent Into the Woods revival, the red boots from Kinky Boots, etc.) Definitely worth checking to see if they have seating available in the Blue Room. Walking distance (for us, that’s a mile or less) to all the Broadway shows we had tickets to and even some of the off-Broadway ones. Surrounded by great dining. We will definitely be coming back to The Civilian the next time we’re in NYC! Read less
